Talking It's Up! Now Looking for Opinions!

Hey everyone,

I've been working on my freelance writing website for a while now and I've finally got it up and running. I had planned to get it up last week, but my grandmother passed away and so it didn't get done. However, I have finally got it up for everyone to see - and it's only 3am!!

Anyways, if you have time, I would greatly appreciate it if you would check it out and tell me what you think and if you see anything that needs to be changed. The website is: www.DCFreelanceWritingServices.com. Thank you so much!

PS - The one thing I would like to change is the contact me page - the only available widget offered by yola.com was the dolphin one. So, that can't be changed at this time. Other then that, I'm pretty excited about how it turned out, but would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks Again!

Not bad, but make sure to check the spelling. On the home page, "experience" is incorrectly spelled.
:-) But other than that, everything looks just fine. Good luck! :-)

Ahh! Thank you - I've read it like 100 times, and never caught that - will fix it right away!

The design is nice and the site is easy to navigate. However, do you have any better samples? And more to showcase the diversity of your skills? Maybe you aren't finished yet and plan on adding more.

Also your rates are very low. When writers charge this little, it undermines the entire profession. You wouldn't even be making minimum wage at those rates. Your work deserves more.

If you don't like the contact page you can just type one with your email and or Twitter/facebook page. I have to admit that it does look a little out of place. YOu could do something like I have on my blog for the contact page Contact. The rest looks great.

I think it looks nice and sleek, which is good. I agree that you should add in a few more examples, perhaps from various types of articles. On that "samples" page, you could put links to various types and each type could be it's own page if that makes sense.

Agree on the contact widget also- doesn't fit at all.

I don't think your rates are very out of line, I mean, we get paid about that when working for DS or Wisegeek or any of those types of companies right? If you are a quick writer and you aren't talking about highly researched articles, that would certainly be minimum wage+. If you are going to offer highly researched articles, maybe a good idea to add in some different rates for different types of content?

I don't think your rates are out of line either, and I don't see why you couldn't make minimum wage or more by charging .03-.04 per word. It's not like you're offering to write 500 word articles for $1 or $2.

The site looks good!

Thank you for your comments. Right now, I am happy with my rates because I've only been doing this for about 2 months now...as time goes on and I get more experience I will increase them. As for the samples, I am not finished with them yet. I am going to add more, but I wanted to get the site up and running and decided I can add the other samples shortly.

I will definately look into changing that widget out as you guys suggested. It just doesn't fit, but I didn't know what else to do...lol.

Thanks again!

I didn't see anything that mentioned payment methods.

You're right - there isn't an email addy on there because I have the widget on the Contact Me page. However, I am going to change that tonight after my son goes to bed. It's the same with the payment methods. I'm going to delete the widget and just type my contact information and payment methods.
