Default Bright Hub

Does anyone here work for Bright Hub? I just applied for them, but I'm not really sure what to expect...can someone tell me what the basics are? Thanks!

I don't write for them myself, but I haven't heard anything bad about them. All the writers I know who blog for them are happy with what they do and what they earn....if that helps?

Default Bright Hub

I am an ME at Bright Hub.

Pros: For me, articles are very easy. It's not hard for me to write 15 or 20 BH articles in a few hours. There are no specific formatting requirements (like how to, about, list, etc.) and the minimum word count is 350. While some editors (like me) require a reference, the minimum is one. You don't need to find 4 or 5 sources and list them all. Articles are *usually* edited within a day or two (see the "cons" list for a caveat on that). They always pay on time, which is nice as a writer who has been burned before.

Cons: There are article limits in each channel (which are adjusted based on traffic/ad revenue). As a writer, you're not going to make $1K plus like you can with Demand or other content sites with a lot of clients.

Every ME does everything differently, so it can be confusing to work in several channels. For example, I require a reference for each article, but other editors do not. Writers who write for other channels sometimes forget to add their references to articles in my channel because they are not used to doing it all the time.

They pay monthly, which means you have to wait a while after your work is published to see any money.

The managing editors and contributing editors are contract employees who also get paid monthly. As a result, they sometimes cannot focus as much on BH as they would like. When it comes down to it, most people have to work on what is going to pay immediately rather than spend time on BH stuff that won't pay for 4 or 5 weeks. This means that articles might not get edited for 3 to 5 days instead of 1 or 2. Some editors have full-time day jobs, so you may have to wait a day or two to get a response to an e-mail or private message.

Overall, I love working for Bright Hub.. It's nice to know that I am not going to get stiffed on payment when I have already done the work, and I can write on topics that interest me and avoid the ones that don't.

Thank you both for the info! I really enjoy hearing from others who have already been there.

I really enjoy writing for Bright Hub as well. I've been with them since January and I write for 2 channels. My page views increase considerably each month, and I'm now earning a bit extra in revenue share on top of the flat $10 per article.

I just got accepted and haven't written anything yet. There is never anything available in my channel (Green Living). Does anyone know how to apply for more channels (ones that actually have work!)?? Thanks!

Plastix, when you go to the home page of a channel, click "About this channel", and a link that says "Become a writer" should pop up. Then you just fill out the application. Hope this helps!

Thumbs up Just got accepted

I had to search to see if there was a thread already for Bright Hub!

I just got accepted to write for BH, in the 4 channels I wanted (Special Education, Online Learning and Degrees, Home Office, and Entrepreneurs). I have been watching the training PPTs and am looking forward to writing some articles within these topics. I know the pay is less than what I get at DS, but I thought it would be a nice change of pace - plus the opportunity for residual income.

Anyone else still writing for BH? I know "ebookwriter" is there - since people use different names, sometimes it's hard to tell on another site if it's the same person or not!

I still write for Bright Hub! I contribute to five channels now (Green Living, Early Ed., Special Ed., Online Learning, and Homework/Study Tips).

I'm considering applying to BH but wanted to see if you all were still writing there and how it's been going?
