I’ve wanted someone to start up a detailed thread like this for a while. No one seems to be doing it, so I’ll put myself out there first. Hopefully, you ladies will join in. My income is directly dependent on my output and I suffer from a serious case of writer’s ADD, which we all know doesn’t make for good juice. Well, here is my monthly income breakdown, it’s not much, but I am working on building my monthly income with residuals.

Private Clients: $500-ish
Demand Studios: $600
Text Broker: $200
Associated Content: $100-ish

Total Monthly Income: $1,300-ish

So, I’m curious about your income. Anyone else willing to go into detail just as I did above? I’m sure it will be a great help to newbie writers and it will be an inspiration/motivator to the rest of us.

I'm a single mom with fibromyalgia and an autistic child I homeschool so I write very part time and my income isn't nearly as impressive as yours but nevertheless I'm happy with it. So, here it is...

Associated Content: $100
Text Broker: $100
1 Private client: $100
Data entry for 1 client: $100
Quicktate (transcription which I do when Text Broker is slow and I can't come up with anything for AC because due to my health I can't take on any real clients except the 2 I have who understand my "plight" LOL): $100

I only work about 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. I never work on weekends. $500 a month is a great addition to my disability check though, especially since I can do it from bed on the days I can't get out of bed and don't have to work if my daughter is having a rough day. What other jobs could do this for you? LOL

I'll be glad to share my monthly writing income! Hopefully it will be inspiring to....someone. Lol.

Demand Studios - $1700
WiseGEEK - $200
Associated Content - $25
Ehow - $100 (Always increasing)
Bukisa - $15-$20
Adsense - $30
Suite101 - $20 (Average, and I just started!)
Private clients and miscellaneous projects - $100-ish

My average monthly income from writing is around $2200. Sometimes it's a bit more and sometimes a bit less. DS makes up the largest part, but I hope to see my residuals surpassing this with time.

This is a great thread idea! I read a “writer’s compensation” report several months ago (of course, I can’t find it now), which was a huge inspiration to me. Here’s a quick breakdown of my writing income:

Ehow: $70
Private Clients: $1,800
Demand Studios: $1,200

Total: Around $3,000 (give or take depending on the month)

Looking forward to reading everyone’s responses. It might give us some new ideas for job leads as well!

I think that's the thing too... Finding time to work on residual income is important. I can't really preach too much as I haven't found the time to do it this month because I make sure that my other goals are met first. (40 AC articles; $100 TB; $100 QT; and my 2 clients) Plus life has just escaped me this month. I've been sick and there's been a lot going on. However, in those months that I do work on residual income I usually see an increase the following month. Hopefully I'll have a few extra days to work on this at the end of this month but with the way that it's going right now we'll see LOL

I'm just getting started as a freelance writer, so I'm hoping to see these numbers go up soon.

All of your incomes are VERY impressive! For all of you that have an article limit of more than 10 per week at Demand Studios, do you have any tips on how I can get my limit increased? My weekly article limit is still 10 after almost a year!

Include pictures and links with every article, and write as many as you can per week. There's a sticky thread on the DS forums that was posted by Richard Lally that details how to get your limit raised. I think it's called something like "Six ways to increase assignments." Hope that helps!

I started off writing for print and moved to online writing about 1 yr ago. I like it better because there is no long wait for being paid (some publications take 90 days - 6 months to pay!) but the pay is often lower so it probably all equals out.

Demand- $1600
Private Clients- $1000
Print publications-$400
Random- $200

Random is revenue share, something I have just started in the last couple of months thanks to these boards, and Textbroker- which I use to fill in when I have down time. My private clients are about 50/50 web or print, as I do some advertising copy and newsletter services. I found most of my steady web clients through Elance.

Teenmommy- there was a thread in the DS forums a few weeks ago where a few people received emails stating that DS was not currently raising article limits right now. I don't know if they have begun to again yet.

I only write part-time, as a supplement to DH's full-time income. I also have a child on the autism spectrum. My breakdown is typically something like:

Textbroker: $200-300

Bright Hub: $40-50 plus a few dollars extra for residuals

Private client: $100

Delegate 2: $60-120
