Honey,

are you saying..$4.00 for 300 words????????

Oh dear Lord, where is Debng when you need her....

I sort of gave up. I felt I was beating a dead horse. As a
result, I no longer lecture incessantly about the evils of low
paying keyword content. People probably just think I'm a crackpot at
this point, and no one cares anyway.

I'll just offer this. Do what feels right. There's a difference between
writing something you enjoy for a place that treats you well then to
spend hours writing drivel for someone who treats you poorly.

I don't mind a lower paying market (I draw the line at $10) if it's for
a place that treats its writers well and understands we're
humans, not content machines. You have to ask yourself, does someone
who pays $1 per article really have his writers' best interests at
heart? Especially if that someone needs 400 articles in 12 hours.
400 articles that are well written and require a Phd's worth of
knoweldge. Sounds nonsensical, but that's almost what it seems like,
doesn't it? It's the same with a place that sends out abusive emails,
and then charges for the priveledge because they want to cull their
group of writers. Why would you let yourself be treated in that manner?
Do you feel good about yourself after inviting these people in your
home? If you do, perfect. If you don't, move on.

Find employers who care about your happiness or at least understand
that you need to earn a living. Find places that enable you to complete
projects with your self respect intact. Whether that employer pays $4
or $50, is up to you.

It's all about respect.

And that, is my absolute final word on the subject.

Just incase anyone is interested here is an email I sent them along with their reply.

my email:

>I am not interested. I do not pay someone for work.
>
> It does not work this way. You pay the writers for work, we do not pay you
> to write for you.
> I think this poor business practice will cause you to lose many good
> writers.
>
> Besides, from what I have heard, this is not the only poor business
> practice you have.
> You can keep your work, and collect fees from someone else.

Their reply:
I'm very sorry you feel so bitter, but I do wish you good luck in your endeavours for the future.

I must also point out that judging bythe writing standard contained within your reply, we would have informed you that it does not reach our high standards. We pride ourselves on having 70 excellent writers and we would not want tothreaten that by having writers of a standardsuch as yourselfruin it for the rest of us.
Please do not answer this mail,I think you have made it clear already thetone of reply we can expect.

The only thing I really would be interested in is your statement about 'poor business practice' and I would be very careful what you say unless you have any proof of this tittle tattle, from what you have heard of course.

I found more errors in their reply to you than in your original message. In fact, I have seen many errors throughout many of their messages in this thread, as well as one I received when I inquired about their company quite a while ago. They really do need an editor/proofreader. Perhaps English is not their first language?

Deb, I so agree with you. I think the bigger issue with this company isn't so much the fees they're charging (though IMO it's not a good move on their part) but the way they treat their writers. I've never written for them but I'm shocked at some of the responses I'm seeing or hearing about from others.

I think most of us have written for lower rates (or even free) at one time or another, but to have poor treatment thrown on top of it, it's just not necessary.

There are so many other great markets opening up for web content, and of course print as always.

They just seem so unprofessional. In the first place, I was not trying to 'wow' them with my email.

I recall the original email, as posted previously said "Thank you everybody and I would certainly be interested in your reactions and thoughts if you would like to reply to this mail.".

I was simply giving him my honest reaction and thoughts. LOL

I did reply to that email and told him "Thanks for the laugh!".He replied with "Please do not email us any longer with your bitter comments.". LOL

Oh well, just another job I do not need.

I guess they just didn't like the comments they got back about their wondrous idea to charge fees. LOL

Um..that e-mail was completely rude and unprofessional. Could you actually file a rip-off report based on those? Just curious, so everyone can get a heads up if they aren't familiar with the company.

Yes, as I stated before, their grammar leaves much to be desired.

I'd send a copy to Writers Weekly and let Angela Hoy have at 'em.

Ahhh...I was one of the first group of people to sign up with A&C and quit after a "you suck" email . They accused the writers of substandard work, even though they sent outemails with spelling mistakes!

Afew months later when members of this board started talking about how great they were, I thought maybe it was my own personal experience with them that was not so "nice".

I am glad I thought better of my workand got out when I could! They have failed to realize that they need writers to write for them. We can get writing jobs elsewhere...
