Over the years I have worked with many individuals with home businesses. I suggest you be very careful and consider what you really want to do and are willing to do. There are tons of ideas but bottom line you are going to have to sell something.
The question is what... Services? or Products? or Both? Do you want to tackle the network Marketing Industry? On line Marketing Industry? Or just marketing stuff you originated or your skills. Most of my clients who have gone this route turn into MLM junkies who don't make anything. A few stick to it and earn decent incomes and a few have soared into the 20K to 30K per month range. Those who have succeeded focused on one company and worked it daily for years before seeing the fruits. On line marketing requires learning patience and learning the things that make this work... from website(s), understanding niches, SEO, blogs, Membership sites, forums, article writing. outsourcing, webcasting, video marketing and more for me this is the most challenging endeavor I have undertaken and the most fun. Tons of stuff to sift through Your own products ... or services (skills) I have made money as a notary public & tax practitioner. My brother makes money doing document preparation, my daughter has made money on ebay selling what she calls vintage clothing ... going from second stores and buying vintage clothes and selling them. My auto blogging coach, Chet Hastings, had side business going to second hand stores and buying old books and selling them... he claimed this market was huge and that he often sold books for hundreds of dollars that he picked up for pennies. Your choices are endless you just need to find what you enjoy.. make sure you got something to sell that people want and get busy |

I agree that if you search the various folders in WAHM, you'll find something that appeals to you.
I just want to remind you to really do your homework. Research whatever job or home business looks good to you. Of course, check out the company's website, but also be sure to check out 3rd party sites to see what people outside the company say about them. And also, just because one person loves their company and what they do, it doesn't mean it will be a good fit for you. There is no one business that is right for everyone. As someone else here said, be sure you understand the difference between a job at home, where you are an employee working for a company, and a home business, where you are your own boss selling a product or service for a company. The former should NEVER have any fees attached. In nearly all home businesses, there is a charge to either get started and/or a monthly fee. Be sure you understand the fees thoroughly before joining. I wish you good luck with your search and every success wherever you end up working.

I actually have both a home based job, and a home based business, its not hard to do both, one will assure you of a paycheck, while you build the business on the side.

I don't know if you were prepared for the outpouring of support and information from all the folks here, but I know that it must feel good to know that you are not alone in what you are searching for. I was in the same position as you and wanting to find something that could be done from home. I spent several weeks researching the different fields that interested me, as well as fields that would provide me with a large base of potential clients. I also wanted to find a company that had similar corporate beliefs that were in line with how I wanted to do business. I wanted to find a company that didn't require me to "stock" product, as I have limited space for that. Being able to have the ability to do work online as well as face-to-face was a plus for me because I do enjoy speaking with people. Make sure that you have your list of must-haves so that you can narrow down what will work for you versus what won't.
Just because someone gives you alot of reasons why they love the company that they are with, it might not be a good fit for you. Everyone is different. There are so many opportunities out there. I wanted to find a company that was open to suggestions from the people they worked with and find new ways to improve their products and give the consumers as well as giving more to the people working with them. Whatever company I've been with I've enjoyed exploring different ways of doing things and seeing how things can be done better. Some companies may have a set way of doing business and not open to change. Make sure it's a good fit for your personality and how you like to do business. I would also suggest in addition to doing your independent research, I would talk to people here on wahm.com. This is an amazing collection of people who have so much experience to share with you. Find someone that you click with, because that person can really help you to achieve even higher levels than you may have ever imagined. I wish you the best in your search!!

I agree take your time and do research. you should do something you believe in. I started working from home when my son was born. He is autistic. After doing research I in my opinion it is due to alot of the toxins in the air we breath and that we use to clean with. I got hooked up with a great wellness company and I really believe in thier products. It's great for me because it's all based on reffering the products to other customers and no real selling. I am a quiet and shy person and I hate sales. Best of luck in you search. If you are interseted contact me and I can give you more information.

You do seem very clear about the kind of money you want, but have you decided yet what is it that you want to do to earn it? Some great advices and suggestions have poured in already and I am sure you will find your answers and foothold after reading thru these posts.
Remember web is a big, wide world; and there are hundreds of things you can do from home - based on your skills. The field is open; you can tutor kids at home; start a day care center; freelance as writer; manage and maintain your own eStore or travel agency; sell organic food online...whatever. Worry about what is it that you want to do, money will follow. Narrow down your choices first. All the best! Last edited by HowToee.com; 03-06-2012 at 09:21 PM. |
