You know, who knows? How many times have you tried applying for DS writing spot? I landed it on my second try.
There were a few moms that I read on here who tried to get in on their third try and failed as well. Check and see if you have good spelling and grammar before submitting the writing sample. If there were errors on it, they will more than likely reject it. Since we didn't see what you did wrong, we can't say for sure. Only you do. I started off writing at ehow back in July 2008 and I guess my sample article were good enough with no spelling and grammar errors. That might help a lot. Laurie |

omg. 5 times? I wonder why they keep rejecting you then. I do not know why but wish I knew in order to help you more.
I hope you also gave them a really good writing sample as well. That can help you get in as a writer for the site. Emily629 on here if that is her nick, landed the spot on her first try. Do you know anyone else that you know who also write for DS in order to maybe help you more? It would be better if done in person since they know what they are doing but if someone online you know made it, well, you don't know until you try it. How long have you been a writer ever since? I have been one since JUly 2008. |

I applied after having a few months' experience at QualityGal, and a dozen or more articles posted on ehow. Are your ehow articles in the proper "how to" format? Are there any spelling or grammatical errors? Do you have other sample articles to submit instead of the ehow ones?

Besides editing your resume and writing samples for the "formal things" (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), make sure that your writing flows well. The is the biggest problem I see with both my writing students and a lot of new freelancers. Your writing may be correct in the technical sense, but if it lacks professional tone and structure, it still might not make the cut.

I applied and was denied, and then I reapplied after a few months at eHow, Text Broker, and iWebContent and was accepted. Keep practicing and ask for feedback from editors.

I was accepted on my first try at DS. I have been writing for four years but almost everything has been for a print newspaper. Virtually none of my articles have been online content. So I don't know what criteria they used to accept me. I used a resume that highlighted my writing work and submitted samples from the one online job I had (though it was from 2006) and the newspaper. I was accepted within 48 hours. I wish they would say what it was that they liked about us (or didn't like) so we could use the information to improve. But, alas, they make you figure it out for yourself

I'm sorry that you keep getting rejected by DS. Do you write for other sites (I mean, other than Ehow)? Have you tried writing for other sites? I mean, like ferfer, I was accepted my first try, and I really don't know how I managed to get in so quickly. I mean, I'm grateful, but I don't even know how I managed it. I personally want to branch out of DS, b/c it's the first place I've ever written for, other than ghostwriting. I didn't even know what ghostwriting was until last week. Lol. I just knew I was writing, someone paid me and the article was gone. :-) Also, are you using a different email each time? You should use a different email every time you apply. Hth!
