Default Computer advice?

I am going to school for web development and design. Right now I have a MacBook Pro, but I need a windows based computer. I dont want to add windows onto my Mac. I need advice on what PC I should get. Do you use a laptop or desktop? I am thinking I would rather a laptop, so I can take my computer with me. I would love to get the HP envy, but I do not have 1200 to spend. I would like to stay around 600 or so brand new. Also, memory is the biggest thing I really need. Any ideas??

Instead of a new computer, you could look at running Windows on the MacBook. You have to run it under something called Parallels. I'm not a Mac person, but I'm sure you can Google the info.

If you are set on getting a laptop, check out ASUS. Love their stuff. Doesn't come with a lot of bloated crappy software. Best Buy has some really good deals on pretty powerful refurbished ones right now in their outlet center if you don't mind going refurbished.

I know a few people in the IT industry. They've said HP and ASUS are the only things they would buy.

Thanks for the advice! I now thinking I may just do the Parallels on my MacBook Pro. I was thinking about getting another computer and then my son would have one too.

I would suggest you looking into getting a gaming laptop, they are usually faster than you average laptop. The best I believe is AlienWare Mx18 but it cost $2,500+

Macs are so nice that it may be hard to go to a PC. Maybe run Parallel (or other vmware) and get your son a cheap PC.

I would look into purchasing a cheap laptop. HP makes some decent laptops that don't cost a lot of money. If you focus on the "mini" or "everyday computing" models you can find one in the $300 to $450 range.
