Default Wordpress issues :/

I've created a Wordpress site for a client which admittedly uses a LOT of plugins. (This guy wants a $50K site on less than a shoe string budget! )

I've created a search field, but it doesn't seem to work. Instead of a results page, it just brings up one page with content.

Anyone out there familiar with wordpress and specifically the search field issue?

If so, how much do you charge for such troubleshooting?

Thanks in advance!

With that many plugins, it could be that one of the plugins are not compatible or outdated and interfering with the function of the wordpress site. Most of my issues with Wordpress seem to stem from a plugin that I'm using.

Although you probably don't want to install yet another plugin, there are a few "search" plugins that can be added and might work.
One of them is located here:
WordPress › Search Everything WordPress Plugins

I would definitely set up a specific hourly charge for troubleshooting, unless you wind up finding out later that the issue came from something that you accidently did to cause the problem to occur.

If one of your plugins redirects the pages so that they do not use the default link name for example http://mysite.com/category/my-page-theme instead of the default http://mysite.com/p-238 then it is most likely causing a conflict with the search tool you are using. Are you using the default search widget or did you install a search plugin?

Ideally, you do not want more than 6 or 7 plugins installed. The pages will start to load slowly and you increase the likelihood of those sorts of problems.

If you put up a link to the site and the search box I'll get my partner to take a look. He's real handy with this stuff!
