It's all about content. You should also make sure that it's fairly niche in focus so that you stand out from the crowd. And, truly, make sure that your topic is something that won't leave your interest and enthusiasm waning over time.
In any case. IT TAKES TIME to generate traffic that will develope decent income. Use that time to research different "monetization" methods. |

My suggestion would be to consider starting something like a membership site--not the traditional type where you have to have lots of "insider" content, but one where you walk people through how to do something, or provide weekly tips, or something else. Provide your content through email auto responders. It's a fantastic way to start creating residual income but only having to work 1-3 hours per week.

Hi there. See what you are good at and then make a targetted website about it. Are you good with cooking, kids or time management. Monitize it using affiliate offers, adsense and cpa and your on your way. Hope this helps. Thanks

i think a good suggestion for starting a blog to make money is to start reviewing products. Maybe at first you will just have to review products you have, but then you can build an audience and small businesses will start wanting to send you products to review just so they can be seen by your audience. Then if you are really popular, those businesses and more will want to advertise on your site or you can make them pay a fee to review their products.
Either way, it's not a quick money making thing to start a blog, you have post a lot, get an audience and promote promote promote by being active on social media networks. |

A membership site is also a good way to make money.

Very right. There were many people burned a few years ago from membership site overload, so you need to make sure it's valuable for your members to keep unsubscribe rates low.
I've also been seeing sites that are membership style with payments only lasting a few months. So you might have a membership site and give lifetime access for 6 monthly payments of $50 or something. Tell them you have this and that, and they get access. You can surprise add more stuff to it later to add value, but not necessary to keep it up forever providing new content all the time. There was another ebook I read that was along this line as well, micro-niche or something. They said they found the "hotspot" was $4.95/month. You can offer something once a week in the members area (free report, article, audio, video, etc). Build a large membership and you can make good money for little effort.

You guys have some really good ideas

I love how easy it is to bounce ideas around with everyone on this site. It's like you read the original post and have an idea, then post it. The next day someone else comes on and gives you great ideas, then reminds you of something and you add it.
This is helping jog up old ideas.

Whatever you're passionate about, whether it's a hobby or an interest or whatever, that's where I'd suggest you'd start poking around. It's easiest to stick with something from your heart.
Then you use your head and figure out what the possible keywords could be, and start your keyword research. Then last you look at it from the point of view of your wallet. Are there offers that will fit this market? What exactly IS this market? What do they want? What don't they want? Can you offer or craft a product to fit what this market will buy? Maybe that niche could be something you and your kids like to do together, or a craft you enjoy, or an activity the family loves. Or maybe it's the WAHM niche. Whatever it is, just figure it out from the above and then create a site or blog about it and start building traffic. Then monetize it.
