I would like to move a static website to some type of CMS. I was thinking of WP since I am familiar with that, but I don't believe it can handle my current navigation setup.
I set up the original site myself using frontpage. Much of the site is in subdirectories like www.site.com/folder1/page1.html or even www.site.com/folder1/folder2/page1.html. The site has just become too difficult to manage which is why I am looking for a CMS. Does anyone know if there is a CMS that can mimic folder structures like I have? If I move my site from static to a CMS, I must keep all urls the same. Carrie |

You should be able to do this using the page structure in Wordpress.
You can create a page that is a parent page of another page. Then the URL structure would be http://yoursite.com/pageone/subpageone You can name the pages and subpages whatever you want. In Wordpress your pages wouldn't have the .html extension, but other than that it could be made identical. Hope that helps.

Do what Mike says, it'll work out great for you. And I think, either using permalinks or maybe an .htaccess file, you can add .html/.htm extensions to the end of your urls. I've read some places that having .html helps with your SEO's, but other places swear they don't.

That helps alot, thanks. I was not aware of that functionality but that should accomplish what I want. I also believe there is a plugin to add an html extension to Pages.

Yeah you guys are right. There is a way to add the .html extensions. I forget the details of it. I never had to do it. I think it's a plugin. Have no idea what the plugin is called though.

I did a quick google search on this:
.html URL extension on PAGES - Wordpress Plugin It's a plugin. Using Permalinks WordPress Codex This discusses .html extension near the bottom
