Default layoffs at Thirty One Gifts

Very surprising article knowing that the consultants are doing so well. But it is interesting to think of the connection with how well consultants are doing, with how well the company overall is doing.

Wow, so weird considering that they had to shut down recruiting last year because they were growing too fast. I guess they got caught up with their production.

Hey EVeryone,

We are doing fine at 31. In the last few years we have hired over 2000 people to work at our facilities. we laid off 182 people yesterday. During the recruiting freeze last year, we upgraded our systems and facilities. Because of that, we needed less manpower. The company gave every employee who was laid off a nice severance package. I applaud them for keeping everyone on through the Holidays.

Yesterday morning we were all sent a Video by our Founder, Cindy Monroe, who made sure to tell us that we were a strong and thriving company. She gave us the reasons for the layoffs. Thirty One treats its employees like Gold and you could tell that it was upsetting to her to do it. Thirty One is very proactive in keeping our company lean and strong and efficient so that we can keep our price points down. Our Home Office is constantly working to make sure they can do all they can for us in the field (like our new 3 catalogs a year that I am SUPER excited about!).

They also know how some people will take any sort of news like this as if we are going under. I am well satisfied that this was part of keeping our company strong.

I am so proud to work for a company that shares good news and not so good news with us. I trust them implicitly. I also know as a company from employees to consultants, we are praying for those families affected. I know that 31 was generous in their severance packages but anytime there is job loss, it is scary for that person.

Hope this helps
Leanne

That is too bad for all those people without jobs. Maybe they can get hired back as 31 grows.

Thanks so much for the feedback. You never know what idea is going to work so I thought I would try this. Just got it going a few days ago.

This is definitely the plan And we hope to see them return soon! We had an enormous # of call center employees at 2 different locations... but with latest improvements & efficiencies...the volumes of calls wasnt as heavy as it was in recent times.
