Default Here is another question for you.

This is a great place to ask this type of question because it is a great mixture of gals in Direct Sales.

What do you think of the practice of overtly putting something on your person (not car) that is supposed to generate responses and leads for your business.

Example. Because we do embroidery, alot of consultants have their bags personalized with Join My Team Wanna 31 with me etc. Do you think this works? If you do it, have you had success with it?

Just in thinking about it from the Customer Perspective, if you saw a cute purse on it that said "Join My Team" would you go up and ask about her purse? Would you know what that meant? Would that keep you from asking about it?

From the Consultant Perspective (as far as reselling the product once it is retired), it would be hard to do that.

I just thought it would be a good discussion. I am open to hearing both sides because I am undecided.

I might not know what it means but it would be a great conversation starter.

I think that it is a great idea. To me it is one more tool that you have in your tool box to get the word out about what you are selling.

When I was with Petlane I used to wear a t-shirt with a saying on the back that said "ask me how you can spoil your pet today". I got several comments whenever I wore it and it was a great way to start conversations. I also had a button attached to my purse...I honestly can't remember what it said, but I know I had a couple of people ask about it.

Now that I'm selling jewelry I make sure to wear one of our items every time I leave the house. Even when wearing a tshirt and jeans I can put on a cute pair of earrings. I don't have any other advertising pieces at the moment.

Now...would I, as a customer, approach someone about something they were wearing/carrying? It would really depend. How is that for a non-answer?

I think it can work, but the power is in the wording of the 'advertisement' per se.

I like the Petland idea - it's more whimsicle.

This weekend not only marks the super bowl, but also some of the greatest commercials made. It would be a great little homework assignment for all of us to learn some 'out of the box' ideas on promoting products.

Ooh, great idea!
Yes, I agree. Something to prompt a conversation is good. I think I might get a pin for my bag that says something like "Like my bag? Ask me about it" . What do you think?

I agree. It would be a great conversation starter. I have met several potential clients just from wearing my product. Oh and gifting your products for birthdays and such is an eye catcher too! It worked for me.

I probably wouldn't ask someone if they had a bag or shirt that just said "join my team."

I might bring it up if the bag said "She earned me for free" or something.

On my 31 tote that I use as a purse, I have one of our luggage tags (that doubles as a business card holder!) with just plain ol' 31 embroidered on it (the tag). It shows a couple of our products, and how you can use something in a different way. So it may not be overtly "Join my team", but it'll get people asking what 31 is (and I have my business cards right at my fingertips!).

Default person being the advertisement

I love this since I'm a regional coordinator and independent fashion consultant with Vault Denim we do this a lot. Our butts our billboard LOL! we also create t-shirts that say want to earn a free pair of jeans then ask me how!!! I love vault denim and now have lots of friends who are willing to wear advertisements too and earn a free pair of jeans. If you don't try you'll never know right! This concept is probably why we have grow so rapidly in the last year. message me if you never heard of Vault Denim and in home jeans parties! Body advertisements are a must!!!
