I read on here and other boards of people complaining of party burnout. I worked at two longterm jobs in large companies in 2 different states and I have never been invited to a DS party or even heard of someone having one. I wonder why? I have never thought of it before until I started looking into selling myself. I would think in all those years and all those women that someone would have sold or had a party. Someone did sell Avon for a while but no parties.
Are they just not popular in certain areas? Are some women just so against it? hmm? We'll I will be joining a company soon so I guess I will see. I live in a different state now so maybe people are more into it here. |

I do think it depends on the area. My area doesn't seem to be that big on parties. They can be really time consuming and people are so busy these days. I think catalog parties or Parties in a bag are a great option. I also joined a company where there wasn't a lot of demonstrating or deciding what works best for that particular person. Candles are easy as you just let people sniff and buy.

I started Pure Romance, which is pretty easy to sell (wink, wink) but I think it's the personality of the person. I would much rather buy online than go out and shop and do as much buying as I can online. I don't mind missing out on the hostess credits. I don't mind paying for shipping if you don't have on hand. I have only been to a Slumber Parties and a Pure Romance party. And I am happy to support other sellers but I would simply just go online. Even though the parties are fun. I think people see them as "work" (I have to buy food, drink, etc

With Avon we dont "have" to do parties as we sell from pictures in a book (no inventory). But we can if we wish, and many do.
Sometimes we actually will pal up with a non-competing company and do something together to bring in more people. Im not much of a "go to a party" type person especially if they are selling. With the economy the way it is, I always feel like you "have" to purchase something at a party whether you want to or not. Bonnie |

Parties are just one way of sharing products nowadays. It's important that a company has tools to market the products in a variety of ways because all of us have different lifestyles. Good luck with your new biz!

I find that it does differ in different parts of the US. Especially in bigger cities. People living in smaller towns have that closer knit community so everyone is invited over to everyone's house for a party. Which can be fun... which can also cause the party burn out.
Personally, I love doing parties and attending parties. As a consultant, I find that people attend for a variety of reasons. To get out of the house, get some new information, have some fun, get something new or just to hang out. I am not offended when someone doesn't purchase anything. I just hope they walk away with some valuable parenting information. As a party goer, I go for a variety of reasons. To have fun, purchase something, hang out, see some new items, EAT, check out my friend's house and meet new people. I have also left without purchasing anything. I think that more companies are trying to offer many different options for consultants! With technology you almost have to have so many options available to keep up! Krista |

With Fifth Avenue Collection you always have the option on how you want to run your business. We do one on one sales, party sales, office sales and catalog /online sales. With Fifth Avenue Collection you get a FREE website when you join, so I use this tool to market myself by doing online parties. I still love to do Home/office shows because I connect with my customers and build stronger relationships.

Not only are there areas that home parties aren't big there are also areas where ladies are not interested in direct sales. Therefore if you happen to be a consultant for a company yourself you have a very difficult time finding recruits. Nobody is interested in joining. I have this problem.
