Hey all,

I was just wondering if any of you have switched companies more than once, how do you approach people and say yes I'm doing "such and such" now, and I'm not a flake???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I was with a company for a long time, we are talking over a decade with one company. Then tried one or two things that didn't go well due to the company closing and such. Then found something I loved and did well for awhile and then life happened again and had to take a break.

Now I'm going with a new company and I'm afraid to say anything to my friends and family, feeling as if they are feeling "oh here she goes again". Any ideas on how I can approach or not come of looking like a 'flake'.

for me personally, as a customer, I would just think that you are now carrying 2 different product lines.

Hey chefshe,
I do understand how you feel, and Ihave left a company to go to another, you have to do what you feel is right, sometimes you get in with a company and you find out it's not for you,you don't know untill you try. I have to say my switchwent over wellwith family/customers and were thrilled with the switch and products once I explained what they could do for them, I myself was much more pleased with the products and business aspects of the business I do now! I have found you have to be completely
sold in what your doing and believe in it,That also, in my opioion helps you succeed ! Life does happen and I think it's great to explore new things!
I hope I helped a little!
All the best,Edited by: beautiful

I can relate to anytime I do something different my dad freaks out and says "what are you doing now???" I just laugh at him but this last time it was so much easier I have found a product that doesn't cost a lot and I am very happy to tell people what I'm doing and my family is 100 % behind me and that makes it so much easier.

I think if you believe in your product it really does help you succeed like Debbie above said.

Good-Luck!

~Linda

This is a great topic! I am in this exact position, and my family thinks I am so flighty for changing. I was with a company whose products simply fell apart, and I was so embarrassed when my friends would bring them back. If people ask, they will most likely be the ones who bought the shoddy product, so I can be honest with them!

I am so excited about my new company and I am even thinking about adding a second company.

Thanks so much ladies for your input. I hate being thought of as "flighty" because I swear I'm not. I was with PC for 10 years, went on trips, earned all sorts of prizes and acclamations. Then chose to have 2 more babies close together and going back it just wasn't the same. I then tried a couple of things because I missed the whole 'direct selling' thing. It took me a couple of tries until I found Wildtree and I loved it and still do love the products, but I acquired 2 more children (ages 2 and 3) overnight, I wasn't looking to add to my family, for real, I already have 6 kids, but these 2 girls needed a home and I knew they needed to stay together.

So the party thing had to be on hold, since these kids came to us with some behavior issues, eating issues and just a mess. Now that things are going much better and the family is adjusting much better I still miss direct sales, I've seen so much good in my own life and the lives of others when they have something like direct sales to do I still don't have a lot of time for parties, prep, portion cups and lugging around heavy bottles and jars, but I can wear jewelry to my part time job and church and around town, so right now I'm doing what's best for me and my family.
I guess what I'm really saying is thanks, thank you for making me feela lot less flaky!! I love coming to these boards, its great having others who can empathize with what we all go through.

Your very welcome! Thats what we are here for! And god bless you and your family! It all comes down to what works best for you and your family!
Thats the great thing about direct sales, you can for the most part fit it into your life, sometimes you can't! I in my life had to put everything on hold for over 5 years, I have a son who has autism and totally changed my life and was not able to work outside of my home and even doing direct sales at that time was impossible for me,but since then I am happy to report my son has made much progress and is in school,I feel very blessed, and now I have more time to pursue my dreams! You all know that famouse saying life is like a box a chocolates you never know what your gonna get! How true!
I have learned to take it easy on myself and not preassure myself so much, life is to short! I wish everyone much success in whatever your doing! All the best!

I agree with all responses. We all need to find the perfect fit and sometimes that may take a while. The only time I feel someone would be "flakey" is they have tried; I dont know maybe 5/6 companies in less than a year. You need to give something more than 2 months to build. If I would be changing every 2 months or so- I would have to step back and figure out what my expectation were and am I really giving 100% to these businesses. We all know if you spend more time sitting around and dreaming the product will not move itself. Personally, I have done 4 DS over a 8 year time span. I dont think that is too unreasonable.

Just had a gal join my team last November and she too had been in several companies and left all of them for various reasons. She had a similar concern about friends and family not taking her seriously and I told her the best "revenge" for the past was success in the future and she's been doing GREAT with us.

She shared with me that she sold more in her first month with us than she did in all her previous companies combined so I'm wishing you equal success as you move forward, Sheila.

My reason for switching companies were "money". I am on a limited budget and needed a business that didn't require more money spent on supplies and advertising costs compared to what I was making. I really liked the company (and the products) that I used to be with but was always in the hole. Now I am seeing steady growth, and a small profit so far. That is fine though because I know it takes times to build a business.
