It doesn't matter when you get in as you will still need to work to build your business.

It is important to have a good product and good leadership to have a successful MLM company.

If you believe in the product, it makes it easier to promote and share your product and/or opportunity with people.

It seems to me that when I hear people saying "ground floor opportunity" or "get in early", it implies that if I do that, I will make more money than someone 5 or 10 years from now. Or that I have a better opportunity to earn early on. Yes, many companies do have substantial growth in their first few years... but most of them end up failing and closing down within 5 years. So to me, this whole concept is backwards. I do think that there are some start-up companies that are good and yes, some of them will still be around. But the compensation plan should be set up in a way that rewards the producer, not someone who simply recruited a few good people. Here's my blog post on the subject that I wrote over a year ago, if anyone cares to read:

Why “Groundfloor Opportunity” is NOT a Good Thing WellnessMom

The other phrase that gets me is "Fire Your Boss". When that phrase is mentioned it's best to be with a well established company. After going through some of these post I think i'm going back into the build phase..

I think it's common sense what the ground floor term implies. It's not that you can't make money later.

I like the vehicle analogy. The opportunity is a vehicle whether it's a new or old business.

Starting with a brand new business (ground floor) is not a bad thing. Every company was "ground floor" at one point. For those who rule out a company just because it's new, maybe sitting back and watching for awhile would be a better option for them.

My least favorite phrase, "no selling required."

Red face Makes you think

I actually have been selling for one company which it seems that the same ones are on top year after year. Is that because they were lucky or are they more dedicated? I have been on calls with these people several times a week where they were ill, missed school functions, etc... Honestly I believe these people may have been in the "right place at the Right time", but was that because they were there period? Maybe some of us don't realize how hard it is to truly get to be on top in the MLM market or any other.

I have recently started with a new company which is at ground floor level with many many years of experience and research by the owners prior to the direct sell business development and I feel for once I have the chance to BE THE ONE ON TOP!

This is NOT because I got in first, but because I feel that I am working harder than everyone else in the company at consultant level right now and I am recruiting my booty off! I have vendor shows booked, and I am all over the net!!

I am going to work harder than I ever had and that's pretty hard. I come from Restaurant management and I know at my last GM position I was working easily 100 hours a week to make them money.

I'm going to work 120 now to make sure that I am #1 in the company and will train everyone under me who truly wants to suceed to do the same.

Difference is I am doing it from my couch, grocery store, park, and every where I go. I work from 3 AM until 9 or 10 at night 7 days a week and I will make it happen this time!

Go Pink Zebra!

Good Luck out there!
