Before starting my business, I wondered how I would ever be able to approach total strangers to share my business with them. I definitely had the gift of gab. My parents swear that I was born talking my head off. I had years of teaching experience to draw on, but still the thought of approaching others about my business left me shaking in my boots.
Then I stopped and evaluated my motivation for sharing my business with others. Admittedly, my first goal was and is to build a successful business that will give my family financial freedom. Beyond that, I truly love helping others. I spent a large amount of time and energy researching different business opportunities. There are many less than desirable businesses out there that prey on those wanting to get ahead. I knew that my business was NOT one of those traps. My company is as dedicated to the goals of its customers and business associates as I am. That is something that I feel really good about! By introducing others to my home business, I am helping them meet their goals while also meeting my own goals. It is truly a win-win situation. I have valuable information to offer. That realization made it possible for me to have an attitude that is positive, optimistic, cheerful, and helpful. I have found that awareness of my attitude and motivation have made it easy to approach people whom I feel can truly benefit from having a successful home based business. As a mother of small children, I recognize in hard working moms that I see everyday the gift that financial freedom and time to be with their children can be. It is a gift that you cannot place a price on. If you find that you are hesitant to talk to others about your business, try just talking to people and getting to know them. Look for people that you have something in common with. Practice listening carefully to others. That will show them that you do care about them, and it will bring personal enjoyment and fulfillment to your busy day. As you grow more comfortable in talking to others about what you do and how you can help them, you will find that it becomes second nature to you. Always remember that business is people driven, so periodically stop and evaluate your attitude and motivation. Actions speak louder than words! |

So true. I have a "no agenda" approach, meaning I talk with people for the pure joy of talking to them and getting to know them
You NEVER know what will come of it. Sometimes nothing comes of it, sometimes you'll find someone that is there to support you, a good friend, or someone that wants to join your business or become a customer. You just never know. It's better to GIVE value first, give what you can, help people for the sake of helping them.
