Question What does it take to build your own Forum?

Can anyone tell me what is involved in creating a forum such as this one here at Wahm. I know it takes money, time and people but I guess I'm looking to find out what goes into creating and building it. I know that I can Google this but I want ideas from people that I can connect with so to speak
Looking forward to all your replies.

Content
Content
Content

Then
traffic, content, people willing to post, content, and more content.

Think about the fact that less than 10% of visitors (even to a popular forum like this) ever post, or post more than a couple of messages. You better have some content that is active and keeps them coming back until the forum gets some traction.

There is a website called SocialGo.com and you can build a forum there for free. It might be a way to test the waters for the kind of board you want to create. I have built over there before and it is pretty easy to set up.

ty you girls! That's amazing only 10% post. I know this forum has been around for quite a while I really like how its different than most out there. I will check out SocialGo.com if I do start anything its not going to be just yet I'm just getting the facts etc right now.

I know you can kind of have a forum on CafeMom but it is called a group would that be a easier way to go? Maybe to start out?
