Default Videos or Articles on Blogs

Hey Champs!

Just looking for some feedback on your preference - do you like to watch/listen to videos on blogs or sites or prefer to read an article?

In the last few years, I have focused much more on Video training over articles but wondered what your thoughts are?

I much prefer to see videos, because they convey personality alot better than writing for most people. It's good to see the person behind the website.

That said, I usually do a little bit of both. I'll write a few short paragraphs, then post a video below it.

I think articles should be the main thing on a blog, only because of a few factors, like for keyword (SEO) purposes, and well because some people still have slow computers, and if the video takes a while to load, then they might just click the X and move on to somewhere else where they can read the info instead.

However, I do think a video every now and again, does break up the text and is definitely a good thing.

I have been thinking of creating a video for one of my blog entries for the longest and just haven't been able to come around to it. I guess I'm camera shy lol.

I enjoy reading articles. I read articles on many different subjects not just for NWM. I think having one or two videos on your blog is okay but what is a blog? It really is an online journal. For me personally if I want to watch videos I would go to youtube when I search out blogs I am looking to read. Not to mention not everyone has the highest speed internet I know I don't and videos will not always play for every visitor depending on their modem speed... with an article everyone can read what you have posted.

I think videos appeal strongly to people who like videos, and increase the conversion-rate/return-rate among those people. But I think it's at the expense of losing (as returning visitors, or as opt-ins) the people who dislike video.

I think everyone has to test it for themselves, to see whether it's better, overall, or worse.

My guess is that they're advantageous overall for things like "internet marketing" where the audience is likely to be more internet-literate and have better computers and cable/broadband internet connections.

I think the real potential downside is with videos which play automatically, as opposed to the "click-to-play" kind. Especially the sound - partly because many people are using the internet at work and don't want to be embarrassed/discovered.

Not in the Network Marketing field but I much prefer articles/blog posts over video. I do A LOT on the go and reading is so much easier plus overall I just don't care for video. Just personal preference.

Default Thanks!

I appreciate the feedback. I recently did a poll on Facebook and overwhelmingly, the response on "autoplay" videos was that it is BAD and not appreciated!

I am doing a combo of videos/articles, but do prefer making videos. It takes me less time as I am not so picky about it!

EXPECT Success!

I like to watch videos because I get bored easily, lol. But a mixture of both and anything interactive is great!

I prefer reading over the video as well, 1 once a will is ok I see them really as being large banners that talk. I especially do not like when they start automatically if I want to view it I have no problem clicking play.

True autoplays are annoying but just think of how popular you tube is, says something about video marketing.
