Default Being a VA after 10 years away

Hi all,
I was curious to get some opinions on this from those who have been VAing for a while.

I have about 12 years experience doing administrative support work but I haven't done it since 2002. At that point in my life, I was looking for a change so I went back to school and got my master's in English and have been working as an online college instructor every since. While I love my work, I am looking to add some WAH hours to my teaching and I thought it might be nice to blend my teaching work and also have a parti-time job as a VA.

My concern is that I haven't actually worked in the field of administrative support for 10 years. I have been dong a LOT of paperwork and other administrative-type work in my teaching job, so I have maintained a lot of those skills. But I haven't actually done administrative support work for a while.

I'm wondering if this would hinder me in trying to pick up some VA work. Of course I would make it clear that my teaching positions did include skills that are transferable to VA work but I'm just curious as to what my chances might be in finding something semi-stable part-time from those who have experience with VAing.

Any thoughts?

Djuna

No, you will be suprised how quickly you pick everything up again as the underlying thought process and understanding is already there from your previous admin experience. Plus, as you say, a lot of your skills from teaching and doing your masters will certainly be transferable.
