Default Virtual Assistant & Other Work at Home Jobs for Moms

What is a Virtual Assistant? “A Virtual Assistant (VA) is an independent entrepreneur providing administrative, creative and/or technical services. Utilizing advanced technological modes of communication and data delivery, a professional VA assists clients in his/her area of expertise from his/her own office on a contractual basis." International Virtual Assistants Association (IVAA)

This is one of the fastest-growing areas in work at home, as the start-up costs of providing Virtual Assistant Secretarial Services is minimal, while the potential profits can be very good. If you posses some kind of certification of skills or formal training, your service can charge more.

If you are experienced, you can register and apply for verified work-at-home jobs & freelance projects in your field.

Most VA's have experience in a multitude of office settings, doing a variety of secretarial duties like bookkeeping, desktop publishing, data entry, word processing, accounting, Internet research to name a few.

Virtual Assistants and Virtual Secretarial Services provide a wide range of services including:
Database development and maintenance
Web site development
Sales support
Graphic design
Prepare presentations
Prepare reports, documents, spreadsheets, correspondence, letters, memos,
Billing support
Desktop publishing
Bookkeeping
Transcription

You may choose to provide a variety of secretarial services, or become specialized in one field, or even several closely related fields. It is vital to the success of your Virtual Assistant Service to be well-qualified to provide the services you choose.

The real estate, financial, legal, and accounting industries provide more work to Virtual Assistants than other industries, although projects exist from a variety of industries.

Companies who outsource their work, or a portion of their work to a Virtual Assistant save money by not having the overhead associated with the presence of the employee, insurance, vacation pay, retirement, nor the wear and tear on equipment.

You will need a complete home computer system, a high-speed Internet connection, a printer, fax capabilities, and email. You may need other equipment depending upon the project you are working on.

Marketing is essential to your Virtual Assistant Service, and your website can provide a real boost to your business. A Virtual Assistant Service Website could include information on topics such as:
A list of equipment a VA needs
Software and Reviews
Books and Reviews
Networking
Marketing VA Services
Specialized Services
Benefits for Employers
Benefits for the VA
Certifications
Online Tutorials, Courses, Classes, Workshops
Professional Organizations
Message Boards
Offer your Virtual Assistant Services

VirtualAssist has posted information that came from IVAA. IVAA is a well respected Virtual Assistant Association and any VA would do well joining that group. They have RFPs (Requests for Proposals) from prospective clients looking for a VA. In fact many of the VA networks do. If you google 'Virtual Assistant Network' you'll find many listed. And if they happen to be in a different country to you, don't let that make you think you can't join them. Many networks have members from all over the world, just as they get jobleads or RFPs from clients all over the world.
