Hi. I am new to this forum....I was wondering if anyone out there could refer me to any ligitimate companies that you or someone you know are currently working for as a virtual assistant. I'm a stay at home mom and I am looking to work from home. Since I have office administrative experience I am interested in this particular position.

Genoveva, I've had my Virtual Assistant business for 2.5 years and only worked as a sub-contractor for someone else for a short time. That position came from networking with other VAs and letting them get to know and trust me.
I have seen some multi-VA businesses that post for VAs, but I haven't paid much attention as they tend to pay their subcontractors a lot lower than the industry standard. (The industry standard for VAs is $20+/hr depending on the specialty and sub-contractors typically are paid 70 - 80% of that.) If it's something you are serious about I'd take a good look at how many hours you can work, how much you need to earn, what your skills are go from there. Can you afford to make $8-$10/hr or do you need (or want) more than that? VAnetworking is a great place to learn about the industry, get to know other VAs, and I frequently see RFPs come through for subcontractor positions from their VAinsider program. VAinsiders I have a free report on my blog for how to set your rates, if you want to take a look at the breakdown of your pricing-to-income goals. The Work at Home Wife Best of luck!

More info.
![]() 1. Patty Dost just released her new ebook, The VAs VA. I know Patty from VAnetworking and that's her niche, she is a VA who works for other VAs. 2. I don't know if Collette is still around here, but she got started as a subcontractor by going through Diane Hess' CertifiedVP Program I believe. I have worked with Diane as well, I didn't go through the program but I did do some mentoring sessions with her when I first started and she was a huge help with how I was marketing myself and my brand. Once you go through her program and she teaches you the skills you need to survive as a VA, you have the opportunity to work for her VA business. 3. Tawnya Sutherland from VAnetworking just announced an internship through her VA business on VAnetworking a week or two ago. I don't remember the skills she was looking for, but Tawnya is one of the best known names in the VA industry and I have no doubt that being a member of her team will do nothing but catapult you to the next level. If this is WAY too much info and you are just looking for a $10/hr job, I apologize. But if it helps you or someone else kick it up a notch and see there is an opportunity for more than I'm happy. There's so much potential and profitability in this field and it's something I am passionate about.
