Default Places to find clients/work

Do you search online for clients and work? I have found that a lot of the job listing places for freelancers have paid memberships. I'm not really sure if it is worth signing up for any of them.

Do you use a paid membership site to look for jobs?
Do you use one of the free ones?
What are your favorite ways to find new clients?

I know there are more and more of use joining the virtual work force. I thought it would be nice to share some places, tips, and ideas for find new clients with newbies.

Thanks for sharing!

Delisa, if you are willing to pay a membership fee for access to potential clients looking for VA I'd become a VAinsider. There you will have access to RFPs from potential clients that are willing and able to pay a standard VA rate (I.e. $20+/hr). I got a lot of my clients through there and they now have a monthly payment option as opposed to yearly as it used to be.

I haven't messed around much with freelance boards as a lot of people posting requests there are looking to pay below minimum wage. It's disturbing. lol I saw on a forum yesterday someone telling another member to post his outsourcing requirements through those places because "you shouldn't pay a VA more than $2-$3/hr." Ugh...

That also gives you access to contracts that you were looking for the other day. Those are the ones I use.

There is a link to the overview on my resources page, http://asnvirtualservices.com/business-resources/.

Those low paying jobs seem to plague the free freelance sites. I think it is because most of them are looking for VAs outside of the US. I don't mind paying for a service as long as it is worth it. Thanks for the links.

Get search online for clients and work becomes easy now a days. The easiest way of that is making a good portfolio or we can say profile of your job, skills.efficiency and experience. You can publish that profile in different freelancing site. That attract the so much good companies and work for you.The important thing is that you should be aware from the cheater companies.
