I'm researching cell phones trying to figure out which would work the best for me. I will need to be able to email, im,text, ect... I may also have to use the cell phone as a modem for internet access when I'm not at home. I live in the middle of no where and just have dial up. I don't know if going wireless with a cell phone will work better or not.
My phone options are: Blackberry Iphone E71 nokia There maybe some others. I will really have to do a lot from my cell phone. Any tips or ideas you guys have would be cool. Thanks! |

I personally like the iphone. The only problem with the blackberry is you have to pay for a regular plan and a separate plan especially for the blackberry so its more expensive than getting the iphone. All you have to do with the iphone is make sure that you have a data plan. My husband uses his for business purposes and loves it. I am going to get one soon too. I hope this helps. I don't know anything about the E71 Nokia so I can't help you with that one.

I thoroughly enjoy my blackberry. It has never failed me. I have heard that the IPhones are going to have to start charging more due to people use them too much. I looked into it but I felt more comfortable with what I have.:

I keep hearing good and bad things about both phones. I'm going to have to decide what I really need the phone for and see which one fits. I accutally read on a tech blog that Att was thinking of lowering their rates and improving their service to meet the needs of iphone users.

As a prior cellular sales-person...
The iPhone is great, with all the apps, most of which cost money (the good ones anyway), and you have to pay for mobile syncing of your contacts, etc. through an Apple app called Mobile Me. It also can NOT work as a wireless modem, unless it is "jailbroken" which is technically illegal. It also now does cost as much as a BlackBerry to have an iPhone on the AT&T network. Blackberry as also great. The email interfaces are, IMHO, clumsy if you are not using a BB server (which you wont be, those cost thousands a month, and are only had by large corporations). BB does come in lots of form factors though, so you can get a phone you like, but not all phones have the same features or ability to use apps (only the new ones do). They do have a great scheduling program though. My person favorite is Android. I have two older G-1's I brought over from T-mobile to AT&T, one for my personal use/email, one for my Lifestyle Management business. (I do some VA stuff, thats how I ran across this). All my Apps are free (though some do have a cost, 80+% are free), my contacts and calendar and email sync instantly to the web, so I can update on my phone and print instantly on my computer, or save email drafts and add an attachment from my computer before I send it. I can change an email address on my computer and instantly send a picture to the new email address on my phone. AT&T is bringing out 5 new android-based phones (the Moto BackFlip is the first, its a great Social Networking phone, it links all your twitter, facebook, myspace, etc. and updates your contacts if they change profile information like phone number.) |

I wanted to thank everyone for posting. I did get an iphone. It is working out well for me and totally saved my a$$ the other day when my laptop was being dumb. I have been adding free apps that meet my needs. Because of where I live I decided that tethering my cell phone to my laptop would not be useful.

I've been using Blackberry since I started my online career and I find it so perfect for everyday use. I can't stop raving about its push email feature, I am constantly in touch with my clients 24/7. I agree to what they said , once your go BLACK, you'll never go back
