In order to obtain the IATAN card, you would need to receive $5,000 worth of commission in 1 year's time. It just depends on how you build your business whether it is attainable in that time frame. I was able to qualify after the 2 year mark.

There are of course people who are able to do it in the 1st year, it just depends on how you market yourself.

Default Entry Level Travel Agency Without Huge Fees???

I am looking to find a legitimate travel agent opportunity (NOT MLM, etc) but without huge fees per month or for websites, etc. Please message me if you have any info on anything I may be interested in, because this is all so frustrating !

Meg I an with outside agents, I love them there are no monthly fees, the training is great and so is the support once you join. Definitely check them out there is no MLM of any type involved just a straight comission for things you book.

Sounds like an exciting job to have. Do you need to be well-travelled yourself and have a lot of knowledge on other countries to be able to do this job?

It is helpful but not required. If you join a host agency, you can chat with the other agents and someone will have knowledge of destinations that you don't.

I considered this a few years ago, but got frustrating because I didn't know who was legit or what to do.

I love to Cruise and I feel like this would be my "niche." Can anyone give me an estimate on how much I should expect to pay to get started and which companies are best to go through to get started in being a Cruise Planner/Travel Agent?

Thanks for your input/advice!

There are a few websites to look into when looking for a host agency. NACTA - The National Association of Career Travel Agents and www.hostagencyreviews.com
