Default How to get a job as a Travel Agent

Hello~ I have never stopped in this forum for Travel Agents, but it sounds fun and exciting!
I haven't read all the threads yet, but have to run an errand and was hoping I could get some questions answered...
How would you go about becoming one?
Do you have to have experience in order for a business to hire you?
I am not looking at getting rich, but a few extra hundred in my pocket would be nice each month.
Would that be feasible in this particular position?

Thanks for your time!

I am with the same host agency as Tanya and everything she said is true. I use Weebly for my website.

I originally started in the industry just booking my own travel and that of family and friends and began making commission from their trips right away! Then one thing led to another and I have begun helping other agents get started in the industry. I began Gateway To Magic which focuses on Disney and Cruises but we are aligned with all suppliers. We are a CLIA and OSSN certified Host Agency so if you are interested check us out. I would love to help you get headed in the right direction! Their is a lot of training offered but you want to be sure you are getting it from the right places.

Hmmm....in doing a search for Gateway to Magic, I found nothing. Is this a host agency? do you have a web address for those of us that would like to find out more?

Found this thread and found that I'm interested being an agent too. No experience, how do I start out?

There are many host agencies who take on and train those without prior experience in the industry. You can find a listing at NACTA - The National Association of Career Travel Agents and Independent Travel Agent, Outside Sales Support Network OSSN
