what would cause that? It had been working fine earlier in the day. Does this mean that I lost everything on my system? Cheryl |

Well, it is an electromechanical device. Sometime theyfail. Did you try the system restore disk? Try to boot is up again and tell me what the blue screens says. In the future, I suggest you buy one of those flash drives. These come in various sizes anywhere from 64 megs to 8 gigs or more. They are very easy to use and allow for simple daily backups of your data.

Hi Mike,
I need your assistance please. I am trying to download Yahoo Site Builder to work on my website offline. Once it downloaded, I tried opening the file, I got a message saying that the another instance of yahoo site builder installer is already running. In addition, PC Spyware Doctor pops ups stating Malicious Action Blocked, ysitebuilder.exe is trying to access a file. Then it gives the path name Threat: Adware.Maxfiles Risk: High Also, there are on the buttons to minimize, restore, or close the browser window, there is a blue square around each button. Any advice? Thank you in advance,

Jo-Jo,
I'd suggest that you use another site builder. There is most likely a lot of spyware/adware built into the Yahoo site builder. That is why you are getting Adware.Maxfiles Risk: High. I know that there is a lot of spyware/adware in toolbars like the Google and Yahoo toolbars. Delete these if you have them. If you have a major ISP in your area like Verizon or Comcast, they offer a free web site that you can customize. Theseare for their customers only, of course. I'm sure other major ISPs have free websites for their customers also. You'll have to do a little research into this. Mike |

Mike, I need help regarding my slow computer. I went into the services and disabled some things per Grandma's earlier post but I was wondering if you can recommend a site that displays all the services and what you can safely disable. What I had done was manual all my services after reading an article and only automatically starting some. My computer got slower so I remembered Grandma's article and looked it up.
I guess what I want/need is someone/some site to tell me what I really need and what I don't need. If you could help that would be great. I hate when my computer gets slow, it slows down my work production and drives me crazy. TIA. regsmith |

I don't know that I would go into my computer and disable services. I suspect that you either have a good bit of spyware on your computer or you just need more memory in your computer. Run Ad Aware personal edition. It is available at www.majorgeeks.com . Bottom left corner of the page. If you go to www.crucial.com you will be able to have them analyze your computer and tell you how much memory you can ad. The additional memory will help, especially if you are running multiple applications at the same time. A few other things. Have you run disk cleanup and defragmenter on your machine recently? Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Choose which one you want to run. Also, in Internet explorer click Tools, Internet Options, Delete Cookies, Clean History, then set History to two days. I hope that this helps. |

Thanks in advance!

I think that your unit comes with a case fan already installed. If it does, I would just stick with that one. If not, you'll have to consult your manual for help on what kind to buy. Some motherboards have a place to install a connector for a fan on the motherboard itself. The connector itself is a small three pin female connector from the fan. It fits into three pins on the motherboard. Other motherboards don't have these types of connectors, so you would have to get a case fan with an IDE connector. If you want to see what the differences are, go to E Bay and type in computer case fans where is says search.
I hope this helps. |
