Default Guidance PLEASE???

Hello... i am new to WAHM.com and hoping to find some guidance or tips from someone about how to get starting. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my first child (due in May) and am looking to get started with some work from home options in the event that I am put on bedrest early (I am very high risk) As I said, I am new to all this and could really use some guidance in regards to the best way to get started. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!! Tori

Hi Tori and welcome to WAHM. I'm sorry no one greeted you before today.

The best thing you can do, on this forum, is to read and research. Also check out everyone's sig lines, you can usually find links that will help you, too.

The starter companies, which are known to pay peanuts, would be Quicktate, Scribie, SpeechInk or Castingwords on Mturk. If you have an office background and the required skills, you can try somewhere like Clark Fork Communications with a better starting rate. You'll find a list of transcription companies here: Companies that Hire ICs - General, Medical, Legal and another list with notes here: http://freelancetranscriptionistroad...ion-companies/ complete with notes as to who hires newbies, etc. (for the mods: I am in not affiliated with the 2nd link at all, should you decide you want to delete it).

How is your typing speed? It should be at 50 or above. You can take a free typing test online to find out. You should have an excellent command of English and grammar. How's your hearing ear? You can go to About stenospeed.com or Listen and Write - Dictation to find out how you do.

You'll also need a headset and be somewhat computer savvy.

Good luck.
