These schools are useful only if you wish to be a medical transcriptionist.
She said she works in admissions for an MT school. For someone wanting to be an MT, her advice is correct.

And if the OP asked "What is the best way to be a medical transcriptionist?" then it would be a good reply. They asked where to start, and that's really not good advice for somebody to begin this industry. The way it was worded also made it sound like it's the only way of doing it, which is not true. That part of the industry is dying.

I am an MT and I can guarantee you I have plenty of work. A little too much, as a matter of fact.

She made it very clear she was talking about MT, not general transcription.

There is no need to criticize her contribution.

Above is the original post. I don't see medical or MT mentioned anywhere.

Going to MT school is good advice if you want to get into MT. It is not good advice if you're just looking to get into transcription, as the OP stated above.

Good luck, SpringMama.

In the summer of 2010, my proofing/transing income allowed me to take my kids on a summer vacation, and again in 2011. We hadn't been able to do that in a long time.

Thanks very much, Sadie1Lady1 -- I really have my work cut out for me. My background is different but I'm hopeful
