Question Anyone know if there is still such a thing as a court transcriptionist?

I had an opportunity over 30 years ago to trancscribe court records from home. I was 8 months pregnant at the time and my then husband convinced me I wouldn't be able to handle it with a new baby.
Now 30+ years later I am looking for an at-home typing job. I thought that this would be something that I could do and enjoy, but I don't know if there is even such a thing anymore.
Anyone know of anything like this?

Default court transcription

I knew I had seen a few companies when I was searching for general/medical transcription. I just googled it and found this link so I think there are still opportunities out there. I saw others but thought I would throw this out there in case they are hiring. Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Yes, you can make a pretty good living off of it too. You don't have to be certified if you look around.

I work for three criminal court reporters in my State. Check with your local courthouse to see who the court reporters are there and send in your resume.

I am glad to hear that there is still such a thing and that you can do well with it. I am also glad to know that you don't need certification. Thanks!

The place this person recommended, another company types their transcripts. And that company is full at the moment.

What does this mean? If you're talking about Neal Gross, another company definitely does not type their transcripts. I transcribe for Neal Gross is how I know that.

If you're not talking about Neal Gross it would help a lot to use company names.

I'm happy that you were able to get on with Neal Gross directly; however, they do, in fact, sub their work out to other companies. Maybe not all of their work, but some of it is done by other companies.

So, Emery, you are 100% correct.

To the OP, there are many companies out there that will contract with non-certified transcribers. Good luck to you.
