If you're not talking about Neal Gross it would help a lot to use company names.

I'm not going to list the company name in a public forum or otherwise in case of legal issues. I work for the said company and type the Gross transcripts, so I know for a fact it is true.

I appreciate you jumping all over me when it was uncalled for because you didn't have all the facts. However, I didn't have all the facts when I originally posted either.

I wonder if you would mind me "picking" your brain just a little. I was wondering if you would tell me what equipment you need for your transcription job and also, is it all done electronically or do they send you paperwork that you transcribe and send back via mail? Also, if you don't mind, can I ask how may hours/day or per week do you work on this?

Thanks for any info you can give me!

I use the same transcription equipment everyone else does here, a USB foot pedal, Express Scribe, USB headsets and Word or Wordperfect. I work for Sten-Tel and I pull jobs off their server and send it back. When I work for the court reporters, they send me transcripts on discs and I download them to my computer and use Express Scribe to transcribe. I work a normal work week just like if I was outside of my house.

I've been doing local court transcription for 30+ years. I have good headphones/speakers and use a foot pedal, FTR and Word. Court proceedings will always have to be transferred into a readable format. I'm extremely thankful I'm no longer asked to produce an original plus up to six carbon copies on a typewriter.

Thanks so much for the info! I agree that having to produce an original and 6 copies would be no fun! That is probably what I would have had to do back when I first had the job opportunity! I think it would be kind of like getting "writer's cramp"! NO FUN! Thanks again!

Thanks! I think I have all the equipment already that I will need. All of your info is good to know and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
