I would not even think about paying the $20. She is wanting to charge you for her business expense. That's her problem that she needs to deal with. Just my opinion.
The company I work for now trained me on their system and didn't charge me for it. I have to wonder if she really is legit. Not saying she isn't, but I do wonder. When you are asked to start helping out by paying fees and things like that, to me you're no longer an IC. Just sayin. As someone posted, you really need to ask yourself if the contract itself is really worth it. Good luck.

Unless you've worked with her for a long time, trust her and the pay is up there, I wouldn't.
Box.net says they charge $15 per user -- not $20. I can justify perhaps requiring a transcriber to do X many hours per month in order to remain an IC, especially when you're paying for that person, but not passing the buck. |
