Default Landmark Associates is Hiring Transcriptionists

Hello,

I am an employee of Landmark Associates, Inc. (thelai.com), and we are currently looking to expand our staff of transcriptionists. We are looking for experienced transcriptionists who are familiar with General Transcription, as we DO NOT do Medical Transcription.

To apply to join our team, simply go to our website, and then navigate to the Careers page. From there you will find our sample audio test to complete, and you can submit your completed test along with your resume to Careers@thelai.com.

If you have any questions, please feel free to either message me, or to post in this thread!

I see your company has multiple specialties. What type of transcription are you hiring for?

Also, what is the rate of pay?

Thank you for the clarification.

apeacefulway... if you read the first paragraph you will see what they are hiring for. That being said, general can include many so-called specialties, basically anything other than medical or legal, and in some cases, a bit of legal is thrown in with general.

There are exceptions to the rule, but most companies will not list their rate of pay on an open forum.

I applied for this but haven't heard back yet. I hope that it's because they have tons of samples to go through and not because I did something wrong.
Has anyone else applied recently?

It is a holiday period. The hiring person may not even be processing applications at this time. That being said, I know several people who were hired recently within days of application. If a couple of weeks has gone by, it might not be a bad idea to follow up to make sure your materials were received.

As far as the rates of pay, often companies do not divulge that until a nondisclosure agreement is signed and an offer of a contract is made. Rates may differ with breadth of experience or other factors. I do not know if this is the case with this company.

Mully,

I asked them to clarify what 'general' means because they have their transcription services broken up on the website into several specialties. I have also found that 'general' means something different for every company I've contracted with. Excuse me for asking a simple question.

Regarding rate of pay, I don't think I asked anything of this poster that hasn't been clarified or listed in other transcription job postings on this board. If they don't want to clarify, that is fine. There's no need to be standoffish with people for asking questions.

My, my... I'm so glad I was singled out even though another post was written in regards to rate of pay.

Yes, in my opinion you asked a 'simple' question that was answered in their posting in the first paragraph. Had you asked for a clarification of what 'general' meant in their opinion, I would have had a different response, but instead you asked what type they were hiring for, hence the response of 'general' and my thoughts on what general meant.

I was not being standoffish. You (general you) often get tired of people with the silver spoon syndrome, and those that do not read a post thoroughly to get the answers to questions they just asked.

Good luck in your transcription career.

Apeacefulway, their rate of pay is a good starting rate for newbies. And I've heard that their files are great and audio crisp. I've heard nothing but good things about LAI.

Good luck.

Sadie1Lady1, thank you so much for the positive post, no matter how short or how long it was. It was very refreshing. In today's society, I think people these days always seem to forget the law of reciprocation. Even though I'm not the one inquiring about this company, I do read posts, respond to some, help when I can and am absolutely dumbfounded at some of the responses of people. I've been a part of this site for many, many years. It's been one of the best sites I've ever come across to have accurate information, and at the time the most helpful individuals around. I've sent several of my friends to this site. I've explained to them where they need to go and not to be offended if someone tells them about the "silver spoon syndrome" or "spoon-fed syndrome", etc. I know that people's posts can be interpreted many different ways, but in "general" the law of reciprocation can happen without "spoon-feeding" anyone. Again, Sadie, thank you very much. I just smiled when I read your post, because that's what I thought this site was about. Merry Christmas, everyone.

P.S. These are my opinions, and if anyone needs to talk with me about it, please feel free to do it in a private message.

Hi SoccerMomx2, Thank you for your words. I, too, still read all the posts and help when I can, even though I run another forum now. I think this is a great site, but, yes, at times, there are problems with negativity and rudeness, which led me to do something about it.

I enjoy helping others and I see absolutely no reason for anyone to be rude or negative to others here. So what if the question has been asked 100 times before. One doesn't need to answer it in a negative fashion, instead just politely direct them to one of the many answers. Or politely explain the value of being able to research. There's no reason to start drama with a rude answer.

And I second your P.S. although it really shouldn't be necessary.

Hope you have a great holiday season.
