From knowing someone that works there, if you have the skill set and can pass the test, you should get hired.

Well, I don't know that I would classify their pay rates as high for experienced transcriptionists. Moderate, perhaps, would be a good description. Certainly this is a very good rate for relatively inexperienced people. I heard there was some mixup during the holiday period when some did not realize the owners were unavailable and expected faster communications. Perhaps this somehow affected you. Also, this is not a huge national company. They may not move as quickly to process applications as some might hope.

This is a good company run by good people. Perhaps there was an emergency, Ridgetop. Have you followed up in the three weeks and offered other times you would be available?

They contacted me early last week I believe it was - it's been crazy, so I'm not sure of exactly when. The person seemed really nice in the email. As mathomas stated, I also felt the pay was moderate, and as I had to give priority to my other contracts that paid higher, it was decided it was not a good fit between us.

Good luck to those that applied and got on, and if you haven't heard, I'd drop a nice email to them to see if you got lost in the shuffle. I'm sure they recieved a ton of applications.

I haven't heard back either. I had a good feeling about the test, but I must not have done as good as I thought I did. I sent an email asking to be sure that they got it, but haven't heard back about that either. Good luck everyone.

I didn't apply for this one, but I do want to add something. My last contract shared with me after I was brought on that he had received over 500 resumes when he sent out the call for applicants. He needed to hire five or six ICs. So just because you don't hear, it doesn't mean you didn't do well. It may just mean that they have way more applicants than open spots.

The other thing is if they needed to hire four but hired eight, there might not be quite enough work to go around. I have heard many companies do this assuming one or two won't be great matches or won't follow through. Also many companies hire thinking they are about to have some giant influx of work. In this business, we all know that possible work doesn't always show up.

Also, there is the possibility that some companies just are not great communicators. Some are not extremely well organized. Most get completely overwhelmed during the process of hiring and/or expansion.

Just a few thoughts I had while reading this thread. Take them, leave them. I just like to talk, uh, type.

Thanks, Paw, those are good things to remember. I sent in my test and resume to LAI a few days ago but it seems as if it's going to be a while before I hear back, if I hear back at all :-(.

Excellent points for people to ponder Pawp11. I've applied, tested, no response to several companies over the years only to hear from them months and months later out of the blue. You just never know. Don't sit there waiting to hear back, keep on keeping on with more testing and applying.

Smile Update

Just to update everyone on the progress of working for Landmark. I've been working for Landmark for a couple of weeks now, and I'm finding it to be a very good company to work for. There's enough work to keep busy, and the recordings have been very good and clear. The folks here are easy to communicate with and are very professional. So even though it took some time to get rolling, as with this or any other company one applies to, to, just keep positive and do your best. Thanks and good luck to everyone who is looking for work.
