Smile Brands of foot pedals

I finally got hired by a transcription company and it's time to by a foot pedal. I use Express Scribe and just wanted to know some of the brand names that work well. They have a bunch of cheap foot pedals on Ebay but I thought I'd get some advice before I bought one.

Thanks!

Personally, I use a VEC Infinity pedal with Express Scribe, and it works very well. I also got my pedal from Ebay. I was lucky, and found someone selling one that was very nearly new for about $50. Just search on "Infinity foot pedal", and they should come up. Mine's a USB connection, and the software found it as soon as I plugged it in.

Default Brands of foot pedals

I also have an Infinity Foot pedal and it works great. I have never had any problems with it.

I bought a foot pedal, but don't use it. I use the hot keys on Express Scribe instead. It works better for me.

With a foot pedal, I have to stay in the same position all the time and it gets uncomfortable. If I use the hot keys, I can sit however I want. Plus if I'm using a laptop, I can bring it anywhere.

My foot pedal is sitting in storage somewhere.

The Infinity INUSB2 foot pedal is pretty much the standard. You can find it on Amazon for less than $50 new. You don't want to buy a cheap one, because often the device drivers for uncommon devices don't work correctly with different transcription software. And this is a piece of equipment that, if you are getting in a lot of work, will be repeatedly pressed thousands and thousands of times. You don't want something that will wear quickly. It sounds crazy, but over the past two years the little springs in my foot pedal have probably been pressed more than a million times.

Hi Everyone,

Not new here, but haven't posted in a loooong time. One reason is after being away for a while, I couldn't log on with my old name for some reason. (Trans Scriber) Tried several times without success and wud just gave up. Finally, decided creating a new name wud be best so here I am again, hopefully to stay for a while.

As far as foot pedals, I use an USB Infnity that I've had it for 5-6 years. Never a problem, still going strong. I used hot keys too at first but now find they slow me down.

I have a question: does anyone know if there is a foot pedal that works with Windows Media Player? I use Express Scribe for most of my work, but I have noticed some audio is much clearer in WMP than in ES. MUCH clearer. So a foot pedal that worked with WMP would be really helpful.

.

I'm not aware of one that works with WMP. Have you tried other transcription software programs though? I find that quite often, a file that's not too clear in ES will sound much better in something like Transcription Buddy or FTW, or FTR. They all work with a foot pedal, and might be something you could consider checking out

I just ordered my first pedal (the infinity usb) from Amazon. I put it off for so long because I didn't want to spend the money and didn't know if I was sticking to transcribing. I saw on amazon if you sign up for their rewards credit card you get $30 so that's what I did. My pedal then only cost me a few bucks. There's no annual fee or any charges if you pay it off. I just wanted to share! (I'm no way associated with advertising just helping follow transcribers out).

Default V-Pedal works with WMP

I have a V-Pedal and it works with Windows Media Player. I don't have Express Scribe or any other specific transcription/foot pedal software. I just use Word, WMP and the V-Pedal. It's an easy USB connection like other pedals. You can research it online to get all the details. Unfortunately, it costs a little more than the ones you already have. It was recommended to me when I needed a foot pedal for the first time to start doing digital files instead of microcassette tapes and I haven't had any problems with it.

I have the V-Pedal also. Works with everything I've used so far including WMP.
