Default Transcription Hosting--LooPro?

I currently work as a transcriptionist and found out I'm losing my job at the end of the year. A few people have approached me about transcribing for them and I'm wondering how to set up a secure website for them to upload audio/download transcripts.

I found a company online called LooPro but can't find much other info about them. Has anyone used them? Would any of you be willing to share how you're set up to work at home doing transcription if you own your own company?

It's very important that the audio files be securely transmitted.

Thank you for any help!

Lis

You might want to try DropBox. I use that with one of my clients and it's easy and free. There's also YouSendIt, but I think you have to pay for that service. (I can't post URL links yet, so just do a search for those and you should be able to find them)

You might want to think about setting up your own website too. I have one that I can use for ftp transfers as well.

Good luck!

I personally use DropBox and have been extremely happy with it. It does have some pitfalls, as I have occasionally had clients delete things from the Dropbox before I was ready for them to do so or grab a transcript thinking it was done when it wasn't really. But all in all, it's been a great way to receive audio from my clients.

I can see where that could happen! I haven't had either of those happen to me yet. I usually just transfer any audio I receive in DropBox to my hard drive right away and I don't put any transcriptions in there until I'm ready to hand them over.
