Default $0.75/minute for MagiScript

Hey guys,

I'm BOMBARDED and need your help to get through this.

I'm offering $0.75/minute. Audios are clear. Some have Australian or U.K. accents.

E-mail me at lainie (at) magiscript.com and I will send you ten PAID minutes to do. Send me the document and I will pay you $7.50 right away. I pay the PayPal fees. If I like your work, I'll ask you to continue the file and finish.

Files are 50-70 minutes in length and I would need a 12-24 hour turn.

I need experienced people who can do non-verbatim transcripts. I need cleaned-up transcripts no ums, ahs, false starts, you know, filler words, etc. I also am looking for people to verify names. If you are too lazy to do that, then at least put (?) next to the name so I can look it up myself.

Thanks!
Lainie

I don't have the time (or inclination) to help, but I found that hilarious.

You have almost doubled your rate because you are in a bind? You want experienced people for $45 a/h?

As Pawp11 said, hilarious. Not only that, insulting.

$45 AH for a 12-hour turnaround? ROFL!

And yes, if you're this insulting in a post begging people for help, I dread to think what you're like on a regular basis.

Unbelievable.

Hey Rachiegoth, I indicated a 12-24 turnaround -- not 12. I don't think that's unreasonable. Typically, I give people two days. But I can't do that right now. Personally, I can type and proofread three hours in that amount of time.

I'm sorry if I came across as insulting. I was going for two things there: (1) humor for the people who actually do good work and (2) keeping the poor transcribers away.

I'm actually a very easy person to work for, and most of the time, the transcribers don't even deal with me. My assistant actually typically handles the transcribers; I handle the clients.

Lainie, that's very, very low for a 24-hour turnaround for a "good transcriber."

Really? I had no idea.

I mean, how long could it possibly take?

My point has nothing to do with how quickly good transcriptionists might be able to complete work, and everything to do with the higher pay that we normally are paid for fast turnarounds of errorfree transcripts of accented audios. It also has everything to do with why we are already booked solid with work.

Right.

Well, only two or three out of 20 hours had U.K. or Aussie accents, and I said that because I actually have people from there who prefer it since it's not actually an accent.

I'd also venture to say (1) your work should always be error free and (2) if you're booked solid, you probably shouldn't be taking on more work anyway.

So, with the deepest of respect, I'm still confused as to why 12-24 hours is unreasonable.

To be honest, when I first started out and was subcontracting, nobody ever paid me as much as you all are asking. And, I always sent my work within eight or so hours. I never took more than two hours a day. When it got to the point I had too many requests, I built the website and raised my fees.

I suppose that's just me, and I probably have no idea what I'm talking about. I started at Casting Words, and went to oDesk from there, and then Elance. After that, cold calls, Google AdWords, Facebook ads, and now almost 100% referrals.

Your rate of pay is unreasonable.
