Are you willing to reveal the possible starting pay?

According to her website, she charges between 60 cents to 2.25 per audio minute, depending on clarity and number of speakers.

I responded inquiring about pay. They replied the rate of pay starts at .30 cents per audio minute. I sent a reply back that they should be ashamed of themselves and no thanks. You guys deserve better than $18 an audio hour. That's around $4.50 an hour given a 4:1 ratio. Even for a beginner, that's awful and you can do better than that!

Run far away from this one!!

Amazing so many have replied and have been interested. For beginners or those lacking in work maybe they wish to have lower pay and consistent work rather than no work at all? maybe you should quit being so harsh of everyone in the world and let people make their own choices.

After all if you're sitting there with no work but being paid .60, .90, 1.10 but only receive work once in a while what good does that do you and while my website posts one thing that does not mean that's what I make. My clients do not go to the website, that's for advertising purposes in the hopes of getting better paying contracts.

Also, I stated my 'starting position' begins at .30 I never stated there was not room to move or to be paid more if you have experience. However, this is info to be discussed between myself and the applicant. As your email stated you 'have five years experience' and I have no way to back that up nor did you test so I could see the quality of your work you made a 'harsh judgement' without information or facts.

People need to decide what's best for them.

People make these choices because people like you take advantage of desperate people during desperate times. You are bringing the entire industry down with these bottom-barrel rates.

We have minimum wages in this country for a reason.

Personally, I would prefer to do only one audio hour a week at 1.10 a minute instead of three hours at 0.30.

Incidentally, even 0.60 is far too low.

Flaminroze,

Don't you see, from your own income point of view if nothing else, that what Cloakzore says is correct? Ignoring for the moment what you are paying, each time you take a job for 0.60 per minute, you are lessening your chances of getting better-paying contracts. That type of behaviour causes a ripple effect through the whole profession. I urge you to read some of the older threads in this forum on this subject and really think about it.

And yet you stand here bashing me as though you have nothing better to do with your time, Amazing, Absolutely Amazing. I am just blown away by all you "desperate" people as you claim that have time to sit around and do nothing more than judge others.

I am so sorry to tell you this but most of my ladies average $9 per hour. Tough luck to you all who are so seriously and studiously avoiding taking what you (who are the glorified bosses of everyone) determine to be 'low wages' thus allowing you to have down time and be able to bash me instead of working!

Its really nice to know you have enough income that you can sit back, relax, browse the pages to bash people. Have a great day and quit judging people you may sit in judgement one day!

$0.30 a minute is unacceptable, even for a beginner.

Nobody has "bashed" you in this thread.

An interesting assumption to make that the people posting here in this thread (besides yourself, of course) aren't working hard in the time they aren't posting.

Judging from your posts, if you brush up on your spelling and grammar, I'm sure you would be able to raise your rates.
