Those applying for the bilingual ads rater or the quality rater will get quicker responses then those applying for the English.

I have a question for those of you who have not gotten a job as a Google Rater.

1) Is your handle on this forum at all traceable to your real name? Can someone surfing the web figure the person behind your handle?

2) If the first is true, how many of you have one or more affiliate links in your signature?

3) If you do have affiliate links in your signature, are any of them of the "get paid for reading email" type? The type where you are sent an email and asked to click on one or two advertisements on the page to which you are sent?

Ok..so if you do that type of job, have you ever thought about where that money comes from? In many cases, you are clicking on Google Adsense ads. The company who has placed those ads has to pay for either every time someone even loads the page, or has to pay every time someone clicks their link. The person who is hosting those ads gets paid every time someone views/clicks a link.

Why are the ads done this way? So that interested customers can find a company from which to buy. Are you an interested customer? Do you ever buy from these sites?

Look up the term "click fraud" then return to this message. Does that sound anything like these "get paid to read email" jobs? If your company was paying for advertising, would you continue to pay if a bunch of people clicked your ads then left your site without viewing any other pages, or without buying anything? Or would you get so frustrated at the way Google has implemented their advertising program that you would withdraw all of your advertising? Do you think Google wants this to happen?

Do you think Google likes what is being done?
Do you think Google might, just might, look at a resume and see that the name on the resume is the same name as someone getting paid to click on ads?
Do you think that helps or hurts your chances?

Just speculation, but something to think about.

Hi Greg

I'm male and I'm on here obviously not because I'm a mom but because I
found this site by searching for a quality rater forum on google. I
have a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and my resume focuses
mostly on my engineering/computer knowledge. I listed all the software
I know and described other skills they might interested in. I'm also in
Canada so I dont know if there are a lot more positions here than in
the States. Hope this helps.

Hi Azamat - what does your post mean? Are you doing the google job?

I made a broad over-generalization that it SEEMED like most of the folks that Google hired to do this were women. I could be very wrong. I was also wondering, as it seemed at one time they wanted this, if having a Bachelor's and a Master's and a BUNCH of industry, day-time, benefit-giving, job experience put you on the back-burner for someone they'd want. There truly just seems to be no "rhyme or reason" as to who gets picked and who doesn't . . . .and that's frustrating. I don't want a new career, or to even be home (my kids are school age now)

I just want to make about $1,000 extra dollars a month in a very part time basis, working in the hours of 9:00 pm - 1:00 am, from home, and pay down some debt we've run up due to my son's medical bills . . .and this, after about a month of searching seems to be about the only REAL opportunity to do that.

Mysti - I also don't know what your post means . . .I don't have ANY affiliate links in my signature. See my paragraph above . . .that's what I'm all about.

Greg

The job is mine if I pass the test. I sent in my paperwork Friday so
I'm assuming as soon as that's processed I will be writing the test.

Azamat . . . . congrats . . . . .wish I were you. Maybe me and my family aren't meant to be able to escape the consequences of this debt and will have to suffer through it. I thought some decent, honest work could allow me a way out . . . .perhaps that's not what God wants for me

I have been following this thread, because I am also a Google wanna be. Greg, this opportunity may still present itself to you! Even if it is not this particular job, another will come along. Don't be discouraged.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Mrs Atomik! I sure need them.

It's tough when you're pretty darn sure you've got the skills, and meet the requirements for something that appears to be the only legitimate, decent-money, truly part-time thing, here in this work-at-home world we're all exploring.

The fact that you don't get an email or any real response (other than the automated one) just really makes your head spin!

Then, as you've applied three times (original with pasted in resume, again with pasted in resume then a third time with an attached resume) you begin to wonder, "ok, have I pissed them off now, so I've sunk myself?" It can drive you crazy when all you want is a little light at the end of your tunnel (that's not a train!)!
