You need to download the free version of Real Player--then those clips will automatically associate with RP and play for you.

Mess, I wanted to say thank you for your help! It has been interesting setting up my new computer.

I'm glad I could help! I had the exact same thing happen to me after setting up a new computer a few weeks ago.

Anyone else having technical difficulties? When I try to load SXS they don't load, I get the error page and tech support comment box. No other tasks are available and I still have 1 more hour to meet my minimum hours. This STINKS. grrrrr. Hopefully, the powers that be will be understanding. I've been trying to load SXS for the past 45 minutes of so with no luck. I'm not sure how much longer I'm willing to wait for this situation to resolve. What a waste of (unpaid) time. :-/

I"m having the same problem. Ive been trying to load S x S tasks but keep getting an error message and of course, the S x S tasks are the only ones available. I was trying to get in my total 30 hours this week, but looks like I"ll end up with 5 hours less than that. Hope they get it fixed soon

Just checking what is the advantage of being a moderator.
Yes, Moderators are paid more. However, since that isn't
public information I think it would be violating the NDA to say how
much. You can always email Google and/or WFL and ask, but as always
don't be surprised if you get no reply.

As to other advantages, I especially liked that you get another project
type to choose from, one extra buffer between you and the dreaded SxS
....

Wow... I wonder if anyone on this forum knows of another forum like this with such a congregation of Google raters...? I have found comments about the new Guidelines (which I havent had the time to look at thoroughly yet but seems to be a definite improvement tho its almost twice as long as the previous version), being a moderator (and I have wondered whether or not that sort of transition ever takes place- has anyone ever received a more permanent position thru their rater work I wonder...), and working both as ad quality rater and the garden variety quality rater: I was interested in doing that and submitted an application, but have never heard back.

Still most of my email to Google and Rating Projects goes unanswered. But I do receive replies from time to time. Does Lionbridge hire for both Google and MSN? And this is to rjparga: what is it like working as a moderator and how did the promotion come about?

There is a great amount of information on this forum and I know I have just scratched the surface. Have any of you Google raters found another part time job like this; that allows the same latitude in hours with comparable pay? I had, when I first started, some problems with having enough work but those problems didnt last long and I havent had any like that since. If nothing else it seems SXS is ubiquitous. I have seen the new format for Url rating but not the new format for SXS. I have only seen that on video.

Had a quick question for all of you. I heard a rumor on another message board that Google only rehires Raters if the consider them for a Moderator position. This person also says that Google only rehires about 10% of their Raters. I don't know how reliable this source is (and I'm hoping not too reliable) but I was wondering if and if all the second-year Raters here were invited back as Mod's. Thanks!
