I applied in June and nothing but the autoresponder. I keep my fingers crossed and hope daily.

Congrats to all of you that have been lucky enough to land a job.

Nah, I don't think that is the case for G. I have a MBA and work as a Project Manager for a Fortune 500 company. I think they are just trying to get a good variety of people since they are trying to represent their customer base. I have friends from GED to Ph.D. working for G right now.

I hear what you are saying about being overqualified. I have to commute two hours to get to my day job in an urban area. I couldn't get anything locally because I was over-educated for the jobs in my area. Managers don't want to hire people who could be a threat to them - learned that one long ago..

Bad managers don't.

Good managers who are actually confident in themselves and who want to run a successful group of people will hire someone who is at the same level or even with a higher skill-set.

I was put into a management role very young (18). They (my superiors) were actually waiting for me to turn 18 to promote me.

At that age, most of the people I hired were older and had more life experience than I had. As a result, my stores were always the most successful and productive stores in the company and that was because I only hired the best.

It's too bad most managers I have run across should go home and call it a day! The world would be such a better place...

I remember reading a managerial guide that was actually part of a package our local Chamber of Commerce sent out to new businesses. It said that managers and owners of small businesses should NEVER hire anyone with superior education and/or experience to themselves, as it just invites trouble down the road...

I agree with ResumeASAP about how this is a hallmark of bad management, but it's become almost institutional at this point.

I have not heard anything. Only the auto-responder the same day I emailed my resume.

Is there an email I can send a message to inquiring about my status? I sent it 2 or 3 weeks ago and got the auto responder - I just want to "check in with them" - I have found on many occasions this helps a lot and lets them know you are interested. I waited for Key for Cash then sent an email to them inquiring about my status and I got hired the next day.

That's a great question! I sent an email to the same address and got the autoresponse. It's very frustrating when there is not a way to get in contact with a human!!
