So, let me get this straight. You all are excited to be sitting around doing nothing for $0.80 per hour (meaning $100 for 80 hours of being logged in)? I guess I'm missing something here, but I thought the point of a job was to work and to make money. o_O

ya, it's lame, but I don't consider it 'work' time, I do it when I'm doing nothing anyway like cleaning the house, reading, crafting, just goofing off. If you look at it that way, it's pocket change for doing nothing. When I "work", I only work jobs that pay hourly.

libutterbeanie, they did the incentive this month. and i dont sit at the computer for those 80 hours either. since the dialer has been off, and the policy change for required hours, i log in at night, when there isnt a single call. 9 times out of 10, it goes from about 11 pm CST to 8am CST without a call, but im asleep. and i never said i was excited about anything lol.

too funny!

I didn't sign up for the 80 hours so it really is just a few hours of log in time for me.

my phone and computer are in my bedroom, and only about 3 feet away, so the few times ive HAD a call, i do wake up to answer it. this wouldnt work for everybody, because of their living situation or whatnot, but its just me and my son and i have trouble sleeping anyways.

i really only started doing it once the new policy started, and having to work 3 hours straight. i still log on during the day for CG calls, but i probably wouldnt if it werent for that. helps me get my incentive, plus helps me wake up when the coast guard calls start coming in at 8am lol.

Actually shaynjeffrey, I heard that waking up to take calls is how a lot of at home dispatch jobs are that are 24/7. rotating shifts work. I knew someone who worked dispatching nurses. She used to do the same thing when rotated to cover the night shift.
