Default being asked to remove sp1 for win 7

I applied to a position and they asked me to run a PCPitstop check on my computer. I received an email saying that there software was not compatible with Windows 7 SP1 and asked me to remove SP1 to continue with the application process/consideration for employment.

I don't feel comfortable removing a service pack that is part of the OS.

Has anyone else run into this? What did you do?

Personally, I've never been asked to remove a service pack. If anything, I had to upgrade to a newer service pack for program compatibility.

I've never been asked to remove a Service Pk either. But I've been asked to remove my antivirus and replace with another (it was free but I had reasons for not wanting to switch) so I turned down the job even though otherwise it sounded good.

But they just may have an older system and really be incompatible with some of Win7 features. (ms did fly through several revisions in the past 5-8 years).

What did you decide? I guess it would depend on the worthiness of the job offered. You can always reinstall a Service Pack.

The company is a legit company but here is my problem. They state clearly on all paperwork and their website that they are compatible with Windows 7. Windows 7 only has one SP. So you need me to remove a service pack for an OS you state you are compatible with? Yeah I am passing on it. I'm not removing a service pack for my OS. Update it sure but remove it? Roll back to XP? Um...no.

Removing the Windows 7 SP1 would not roll you back to XP; XP is a different operating system than Windows 7. What it would do is remove the cluster of updates delivered in the SP. Those updates pertain to "mostly" remote services.

Here is a link to what updates are in the SP1 if you want to know what you would be removing. Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Good luck.

I would only consider removing the service pack if I was guaranteed and offered employment (my opinion).
