I've been looking over these forums for the past couple of days, aswell as other telecommuting/online job directories, and I'm stumped. I was excited to get a WAH opportunity but now I'm feeling hopeless. The following is a list of places I have sent resumes to/filled out applications/registered/emailed/contacted in some way that has not replied or denied me.
General Transcription Scribie - been in waiting line for a long time WayWithWords - Declined AccuTran - no response AppenOnline - registered but no work Quicktate - no response, I thought this was supposed to be the easiest? TigerFish - no response Mulberry Studio - no response Globosonic - no response Data Entry Tdec - they are no longer hiring WorkingSolutions - no response Dion Data - not hiring outside of US (I'm Canadian) Keyforcash - Got 99 percentile and haven't heard from anyone yet? Search Engine Evaluation Leapforce - no response Appen Butler Hill - not hiring Lionbridge - nothing for english canada Misc. Humanatic - no response Odesk - The wages are too competitive in a bad way.. hard to get jobs without feedback. $1-2 an hour? come on The only one that I've been able to start making $ at is slicethepie, but max you can make is $2 an hour, and I really dislike country music which is all I've been getting Not interested in Mturk or clickworker type jobs Somebody please suggest new places to me, I'm almost about to give up =( Anything but Customer service phone rep jobs please, but I WOULD be open to technical support phone jobs I type extremely fast, very computer savvy, suggestions please! greatly appreciated thanks |

Hi, the best advice I can give you is just keep applying . The work from home world is very competitive ! Also with many companies you are not going to hear back right away. Don't get discouraged you will find something that will "work " for you

WAH company list - Hope this helps!! http://www.wahm.com/forum/telecommut...-home-job.html Good luck! ETA: Sorry the second link doesn't look all neat like the first. The person who posted it made the poor decision to not spell out "at" and instead use the @ sign in the title and that messes up the URL. The link should still work though! Im in the same boat. WAHM advertises these jobs then when you apply for them you get nothing. Im now at the point where i cant even get to apply. i review the posting and click apply and am directed to a screen that tells me to enter my name and email then dose nothing. So i cant even apply for these jobs. I sent a message to wahm and asked how all this really works. but have heard nothing. I really feel that wahm should NOT be advertising these jobs if they are not avaible. Im okay with not being excepted but not having the chance from the start is just not right and a waste of time. If you come across something that actually works please share it with me. thanks, jen

The reality is that the majority of readily available work at home jobs are customer service phone rep jobs, but if you are not interested in these then it will take some time to find a job that do you want. I know it can be frustrating, but if you keep looking and applying it can eventually pay off. Check out the KeyForCash folder on here, if you got 99% you should contact them about getting started because this has worked for some others. Keep in mind though that the pay per hour can be rather low, especially compared to a customer service rep job where the pay is more in the $9 to $12 an hour range. Good luck and don't give up hope!

Have you tried writing on textbroker. It is a small egg, but you may have to put several small eggs in your basket. I for one do not want a phone job. However, like the other posters say there are customer service jobs available. This is a very good site one, in fact the best I think. Look through the folders, they are very helpful, as well as the great people here. Good Luck to you.

You haven't given specifics about your background and experience or your situation (need to wah immediately vs. this is something I'd like to be able to do, but I don't have to start immediately and have time/$$ to devote to finding a good fit/new career path, etc.
I'll share my work-at-home experience to give you the thought process of making decisions and the way I sought out work, etc. I got pregnant within a few months of completing grad school. (dh just finished college). Worked during most of my pregnancy (including vomiting while driving through the morning sickness). Always assumed I'd simply continue working after birth, but by the last two months of my pregnancy, it was obvious I simply wasn't going to be able to go back to work. We decided on me staying home for 1-2 years. And during that time reevaluated and decided on a longer period/school age at least. As my baby approached a year, I began to think I'd be capable of squeezing in work, maybe up to 20 hrs/wk. So, I started applying for medical transcription jobs. (I'd worked in a hospital records dept. after college, and the sheer number of 100% telecommute job opportunities in med. transcription was appealing). It didn't take me long to realize that without having experience transcribing I wasn't going to get hired or even the opportunity to test for employment with these companies (and I applied to dozens.) So, I looked into it further and realize I needed training at specific schools to even get the chance to test in lieu of the 2 year experience requirement. I trained at home with MTEC, and got a MT position within a few months of completing the program, which took me around 22 months to complete. I worked at it part time for a year, but never really loved it and decided to pursue other things, which ended up being freelance writing. I did that for several years on a part time basis, and applied and worked other gigs (Google Rater-for one contract length) that became available. But I haven't needed or felt the need for immediate money in some time, so I'm pursuing a startup. During the years I freelanced and worked for others at home, I never exceeded 20 hrs a week and now that I'm motivated by my own interests and doing something I'm passionate about (although unpaid at the moment), I'm working more hours than I ever worked while being paid. Bottom line- if you NEED to work ASAP go after possibilities that offer a more immediate start, such as customer service jobs. If you are simply looking to work from home to earn extra money, consider other possibilities. Do you have any skills you can turn into profit? (crafts, knitting, etc.) Are you willing to learn new skills or technologies? You could seriously launch a web design business simply by using online materials, tutorials and being self taught. If you offer more specifics, you might be able to get more detailed responses to help you. |
