I am usually pretty good at spotting scams, but on this one I'm not sure. I found it on CL:
About Us We are a corporation that sells a large amount of products on both eBay and Amazon and are in need of assistance. We try to provide our customers with the best customer service along with shipping times, communication, etc and are begging to get overwhelmed with the amount of traffic we are getting. On eBay we are a Platinum Seller and want to remain there. With offering over 8,000 products currently we are in need of other people to help with our sales. We selling everything from, Hoover Vacuums, to Art work, to Blackberry's and Karokee machines. We have over 10 years of experience on eBay and have managed some of the largest stores on eBay as well. We can also help with eBay and Amazon issues. For example, did you know that you can revise feedback left from buyers? About The Position Available We are looking for two people This is a part time job. You may only need to work an hour a day. Sometimes you may work 5 hours a day. It is up to the work load you have. We will provide you with the products we want you to sell and what price we need for it. You will determine how you want to sell it and at what price. We will only provide you with products that make sense to sell and at prices that you can make money. We don't want to waste your time with something that costs $100 when everyone online is selling it for $90. We will most likely start you out with selling phones that we have available. When you sell it we ship it. We would be happy to share with you our sales history of these products with you as well so you feel more comfortable with it as well. You can post the ads to eBay from home as well as communicate with your customers. Same goes with Amazon. Even though we have office space and warehouse you are only selling the products and we are shipping them. We will start you off slow and build you up as we progress together. If we feel you can't handle more products we won't let you know about them. In your first 2 weeks you will probably start with a max of 5 products since we have to make sure we can work together since you are representing our products. Qualifications - eBay and or Amazon account - Paypal account - Writes well - Can comprehend the concepts - Knowing HTML is a plus Compensation Each product sold you will ultimately determine how much you make. For example if we give you a product and say that we need $50 and you sell it for $75 (we pay shipping) then you will approx $25. In most cases we have popular products so competition is tight. You will most likely see profit margins of $5 - $35 per item. If you only sold 10 items a day and made $10 each doing it, then you would make $100 a day or $3,000 a month. Most people who do this for us don't reach these numbers till there 2nd month of selling. It is also based on how aggressive you are with pricing and how many products we can provide you. What We Need From You Please send your eBay and or Amazon user name. We can not accept anyone with out an account. We can't accept anyone with zero feedback, since your accounts will be limited to how much revenue you can produce. Please include your phone number and email address. During the phone conversation we will be happy to answer any questions you have about us and about our eBay store etc. |

This part concerns me:
When you sell it we ship it. What if you sell some things and the payment from the customer goes into their account? And then they never ship the product to that customer? It could be legitimate but I'd advise being cautious. |

I agree with dana .... Be careful

You use your own account, but I was thinking they might send knock-off products and trash my reputation.

Is this dropshipping maybe? Sounds like they want you to use your account, pay the fees, take the risk of it not selling, etc. and then you only make money if the item actually sells at the price above the price they want for it. Seems like a good deal for them but not you because you do all the work of getting it sold and take all the risk. I am not sure, just trying to figure it out. If they are Platinum sellers and are doing so well, why would they need you to sell it on your account? Why would they want to give away some of their good profits to you? I don't get it really but maybe I am missing something. It also doesn't sound like a "job" per say but more of a business opportunity.

I just wanted to point out too that this wouldn't be completely true, your profit would be lower because you have listing fees, then a fee if the item sells plus Paypal fees - and these fees are based on the item's total price of $75. I know because I used to sell a lot on eBay and the fees can be killer. They did say approx. - but they don't talk about the fees so it is just something to take into consideration.

I see a lot of scams in my line of work. But this is even new to me. At first my spidey senses went nuts because it sounded like the reshipping package scam I see victims of every day. But as I read the rest of the details, it doesn't sound like this.
I agree with everyone else something just doesn't smell right about this. The fact they want you to use your own accounts that have good standings makes me feel like they have accounts with bad reviews and standings and they've been banned. So maybe using others is a way to get around this. So personally I would pass. When it comes to work at home there is no real reason to take risks when there are a lot of legitimate opportunities out there. If you read this forum long enough, you'll find tons of them. So I say pass on this. Always trust your gut when it comes to this industry. It's usually spot on! |

I would be careful also but at only aprx 1 hour a day, you really don't have a lot to lose unless as mentioned above they are using your acct. for wrongful use.
But they may just need more advertisers as stated. So many of the wah jobs come from 1-2 people operations that if it sounds interesting, you may want to speak with them and bring up the points mentioned in above posts to get your questions answered. I personally stay clear of CL because of it's scam/phishing reputation. |
