Exclamation CraigsList Poster: A Question You Must Ask!

If you apply to be a Craigslist poster, you must ask this question:

Does it violate the Craigslist TOS?

Also, if you apply for a Craigslist Posting position, be sure to ask if they have permission or a license from Cragislist to hire third party posters.

From the Craigslist Terms of Use:

http://www.craigslist.org/about/terms.of.use

8. POSTING AGENTS

A "Posting Agent" is a third-party agent, service, or intermediary
that offers to post Content to the Service on behalf of others. To
moderate demands on craigslist's resources, you may not use a Posting
Agent to post Content to the Service without express permission or
license from craigslist. Correspondingly, Posting Agents are not
permitted to post Content on behalf of others, to cause Content to
be so posted, or otherwise access the Service to facilitate posting
Content on behalf of others, except with express permission or
license from craigslist.

This is exactly what I told a "Kevin Jones" who contacted me through Gmail chat. He claimed I could make $400 a week posting in the job section.

First, I told him that there would be no way unless for every 3 ads, I was getting paid huge bucks, and second it is against the rules to post in the job section unless you are actually offering the job yourself or on the behalf of someone that was LEGITIMATE.

He then proceeded to tell me that pay was by Western Union or paycheck and I said buh-bye!

Gosh, come on scammers. I'm not as dumb as you think! lol

They are just getting better and better aren't they?

The only reason I was making anywhere from 400-600 per week with an old real estate client (this was before I subcontracted) is because he paid me big bucks to create the ads, research their properties on their sites, call other communities, and post TONS of their properties in their location only.

Don't post for anyone that can't verify the information that they are wanting you to post. If they are asking you to post for different clients, make sure they have a legitimate website so you can view and make sure they won't be scamming/spamming. Those asking you to post personal ads, stay away. Affiliate postings, stay away from those, too. For sale ads, stay away UNLESS they have a verifiable website. Job ads, the same thing.

Default hmm

I have occassionaly hired posters for small projects to post in their own cities..but I always paid via paypal, and the projects I get arent $600 a week either. I would NEVER western union payment or accept a western union payment..thats just a big old scam right there!

Having been on both sides of the coin, both an outsourcer and a poster I think there is a risk either way. When I needed to outsource, I had to look at my project and earnings and put the total amount out of pocket to pay the posters. Sometimes this was a benefit and I made money other times I lost money because the projects i did were performance based, and if ads were flagged off right away there were no commissions to me but the posters still had to be paid. I think if your going to get into the ad posting biz for whatever reason you should look hard at the project and decide if its something you can do ethicaly and if your ok with it do a test run of say 10 ads, you get paid and you like it then continue on if not you cut your losses and walk away since 10 ads is only about 15min of work altogether you didnt waste to much of your time.

Akilcaptcha,

What do you think about my first post in regards to the position you're offering?

Default chill...

These constant bumping of these crabby pants threads about how all these craigslist posting gigs are scams is getting tiresome. We get it, some ppl arent confy with the tactics but people need to chill out. there are posters here making money and they are happy having ANY type of work. Just because some people arent happy about it doesnt mean they have the right to knock everyone else.

Aslyn,

This is not a crabby pants thread. No one hiring for Craigslist posters will directly answer this question:

Does it violate the Craigslist TOS?

The Craigslist Terms of Use states this is not allowed:

craigslist terms of use

k) [posts] that constitutes or contains "affiliate marketing," "link referral code,"
"junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or unsolicited
commercial advertisement;
