Default Can Someone Please Offer Some Advice To Me?

Here is my situation: I have been offered a sales position with an answering service company. I asked a lot of questions and I went through training. This is what I know so far: The company has a lot of accounts, mostly physicians. Everyone works from home. The sales people are paid an upfront commission of $100.00 for every person brought on. Some potential client’s offices will have 3 or more doctors which is $300.00 or more upfront from one sale. (sounds great, right) The sales people also receive a recurring revenue for the life of the account. That kind of bothered me a little because the sales people have nothing to do with customer service, however I have witnessed them save an account so I suppose they will work to keep my accounts active. I have compared their prices with some other answering services and they are very reasonably priced.

The company gives the sales people a soft phone through the computer called Xlite. All of the sales people have individual toll free numbers associated with the Xlite phone. At first I was thinking I did not want to be tied to my computer waiting on calls or making calls all day, so I asked some questions and I was told there is a way to have notifications of voicemails etc., sent to our cell phones and all sales people make their own schedules. A lot of them work on their computers and phones a couple of days and then go out into the field a drop off business cards and flyers a couple of days a week. The company gives company email addresses, they pay for business cards, provide leads (medical right now) and provide a system that allows the sales people to fax and email.

I have been given access to the Sales Chat Room. Everyone seems happy. They celebrate their sales and they get a lot of support. The company is talking about teaching us how to do social media marketing which frankly scares me to death because I do not know the first thing about it. (They are telling us not to worry about social media it will be painless and profitable.)

The position seems okay. The sales people seem happy. Everyone is not new like me. There was one person that mentioned her pay was late and they sent her a check
overnight. To tell you the truth I was shocked.

Here is my question, what else should I be looking for that I have not already mentioned? I have been burned before and I just want to make sure I am making a good decision. It feels right but, I want to be sure. I am not mentioning the name of the company because I do not want to cross any ethical lines.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hello All,

I just wanted to give everyone an update. The position is working out perfectly for me. Being able to choose my own hours is exactly what I needed. I can work my other job while I am building my RECURRING INCOME and I receive $100.00 upfront for each account. Some offices have 3-7 accounts. That is $300-$700 from one office.

I believe I have made my first two sales and its only been a week.

I am so excited. They are still hiring.

Congrats for finding a company which works for you. They are out there, you just have to keep weeding through the bad ones to find the golden eggs. However, I always advise that you keep multiple streams of income and don't rely on one for all of your income.

That's awesome advice. If the new position doesn't work out in the long term, at least you have something else there bringing in some money. But it's also really nice to see you're doing well there.

Congrats on the new position 2Thankful. I hope it continues to be really good for you too

Default that's great

You have made the right decision. you always have to risk things one way or another. to be very sure although everything is doing fine, search for other source of income to be sure of stability.
