Default Credit check dilemma

CREDIT CHECKS CAN COST GOOD PEOPLE GOOD JOBS!

What does Credit have to do with getting a job? it is ridiculous to disqualify on basis of credit.I have heard how credit is used to judge a persons character. But I must disagree with this. How can one be judged because they may not have the financial resources to get out of debt. Isn't it obvious that with companies using these practices that more and more people will become unemployed or stay unemployed. Whether work at home or traditional. With no jobs for the less than perfect credit holders, debt grows higher and poverty becomes more evident. Has the word Discrimination ever resonated with companies who do this.
Credit doesn't decide my skills,my abilities or my intelligence.

The only issue any employer should have is whether or not a background check says the person/applicant has been convicted of a crime. Even then depends on what the crime was,and why?Anyway, the discretion of the employee should be used for this criminal background.
I am not a criminal and is it a crime to have bad credit? I think I deserve a chance to secure a good WAH job,but my credit shouldn't stand in the way. We all must make a living and for some of us the best way and only is WAH.Bottom line is credit is personal and it is not a valid reason to hold back a position from anyone.Am I trying to get a credit card?NO,Am I trying to get credit to buy good with the company?NO. The fact is what does credit have to do with my services that I provide? Nothing, not a factor, not a problem.
And if I hear the excuse that positions that handle customer accounts don't want to hire you because of credit....that is such garbage! Again my point about background check. Credit and criminal backgrounds shouldn't be treated one in the same.
I have never stolen from a employer or any customer. I don't care what info I have on a client,I know how to do a job and do it good! My performance has absolutely nothing to do with credit history. If anything it should be looked at as a reason why the applicant should be motivated to do the job! and you know what rent has to be paid, bills overdue. That means someone would work their hinds off and it would benefit the employer to have such a hardworking employee. One that is thirsty for success because they know what rock bottom is like.

Are there any WAH companies who don't view credit as reason not to hire?

I completely agree. I have bad credit right now because I got laid off from a great paying job and we just couldn't afford everything without my income, at the time I was making almost twice what my husband makes. I'm still not working but we're trying are hardest to fix our credit and I've been turned down from a few jobs because of our credit. I've never been late to a job, never called in sick, and worked harder than most people at every job I've had, never stolen, never lied but still before they even talk to you they reject you!!

It is unfortunate that credit is used to determine a person's readiness for work, fortunately there are wah companies that do hire despite these ratings. I'm with a company called Ameriplan and we help people save money on their dental and medical services. We also offer other services to household such as legal, financial, roadside assistance and identity theft protection and restoration.

Many families are financially in an un-ideal situation and one of our packages offers households the chance to solve this problem by providing bankruptcy counseling, foreclosure avoidance, financial education and credit/debt repair!

Our company doesn't determine a person's readiness to work by their credit rating, which is ideal in times such as these!

Does anyone know any companies that are not DS or MLM that hire WAH people?
I am talking about companies that pay a guaranteed base pay.Something that is stable and steady as a work at home job. Not a opportunity.
Mostly customer service based companies offer pay weekly and bi-weekly. I cannot afford to keep putting in applications and $50.00 credit checks. Anyone can give a heads up please let me know. I would appreciate it.

Mamma - are you aware that Gov. Quinn signed a law stating that employers cannot do credit checks for prospective employees unless it's for financial sector jobs?

IOW, feel free to apply to any B&M job you like and don't worry about someone checking your credit.

I agree that credit checks don't seem fair. I guess some companies and agencies think you're more of a risk if you're deeply in debt/have bad credit. That you'd be more willing to sell their secrets. Or if you can't handle your own finances, how could you handle their job?

I don't like it, but unfortunately credit checks are a reality that seems here to stay. And with this economy, more and more people are having credit problems.

I agree completely and am glad to see more and more states banning employers from discriminating against people because of their credit. Our credit ratings are none of their business!
