Default Liveops-BUMMED

I just got an e-mail saying I failed my background check (credit check). Im so bummed out! I have been working from home over 2 years and slowly but surely my small eggs are breaking and I am with out any now! Hate that I paid $50 for the check too! Such a bummer! I need a position like liveops so I can create my own schedule!!

Default Hi....

This is sad to hear....Wish there was a way you could get your money back if you failed the background check in anyway. I know there was a company that I knew of that promised if you failed the background check, then you get a refund. Hope you find something else......Good luck.

I think it should be illegal for companies to discriminate against people because of their credt score. Someone's credit score has absolutely no bearing on how good an employee or contractor they might be, and it's really not any of their business. It's rephrehensible to assume someone is untrustworthy or otherwise undesirable just because they have a poor credit score, especially with the economy the way it is today.

It disgusts me that companies are allowed to practice such blatant discrimination. If you are not applying for a mortgage or car loan your credit score is none of their business!

I have to agree. On one hand, I can see how a background check would be required if you are going to be taking customers' credit card numbers over the phone. But a credit check is stepping over the limits. Especially in this tough economy, alot of people's credit may be less than stellar but it does not been they are not honest or hard workers. And to have to pay $50 on your own for these checks is really not such a great business practice either.

My credit is bad due to divorce a few years back. I worked for 1800 flowers for about 3 months, seasonal. I took credit card information all day. Just because my credit is bad does not mean that I would steal someone's credit information. I'm sure there are crooks and thieves all over the place, but it is wrong to put me in that category because I have bad credit. If I was a company that ran a credit check and saw someone that had bad credit, I would be more likely to hire them knowing that they need the income. They need a job to pull themselves out of the hole. It is wrong and it upsets me.
Oh Well, my two cents..

My credit is definitely not the best but as far as my background in general, I have never been in any trouble, I have no kind of record of anything, not even a traffic ticket in my life. Oh well, hopefully better things are to come!
Thanks for the replies guys! You have made me feel a little better!!

I'm in the same boat as Princess. Amazing how a divorce can destroy your credit in a heartbeat. Sad! I don't even bother to apply for jobs that state they do credit checks.
Melissa did you try ACD Direct? I am contracting with them. They do a background check but NOT a credit check. You cannot beat the support and training you get from them and you honestly do pick your own schedule! They are great to work with.

Thanks! I will give them a try today! I usually apply to at least one job a day!

Default credit check for employment

I have to agree Berrywriter it is a shame in today's economy or ever really that someone would be considered unworthy of a job due to their credit rating. Now a days everyone does a check even the local dollar store! it's crazy. I honestly think a bill should be introduced in senate making this practice illegal. With all this talk about reviving the economy and all.
It sure would open up a lot of Jobs to people who currently are not eligible.Think of the thousands of people who now have destroyed credit and will not be eligible for employment in the same fields they were laid off from! Now a criminal back ground I understand . The credit check is ridiculous. You know insurance companies run them as well. Auto insurance companies what the heck does your credit have to do with that? but they run them and if you have bad credit your premiums are higher.
