I know I read in the news recently that someone in Congress is trying to have the practice of checking credit as a prerequisite for employment banned. I hope it goes through. My credit was ruined in a divorce 10 years ago, and it's never really recovered.

I heard that as well. Let's hope it's banned. Lot's of hardworking folks are being denied employment because of it. Though I can still support a criminal background check.

Agreed!! I also don't see what my credit might have to do with my work abilities. Sometimes things beyond ones control can destroy credit ~~ divorce, sick child, spouse or parent, etc... As someone else stated, this does not make someone a bad person. I also support a criminal background check. It would be a great thing if companies were not allowed to check credit for employment. In all honesty that kept me from applying to several companies that I might well have succeeded at.

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you find something soon.
