Talking I'm new and clueless :)

I am totally new to this site and to looking for a work from home job. I have no idea what would be a legit, part time job for me. I am very experienced in customer service and in data entry. Can anyone help me figure out what would work for me? I would really appreciate it!
Thanks so much!!!

Hi,

Most of the work at home jobs I see are customer service related in some way. Data entry type jobs are hard to come by. I'd recommend looking around this section of the forum, find things you are qualified for, and apply. And also, never pay an up front fee. Applying for a job or an income opportunity should always be free.

Good luck and hope you find something very soon.

If you're looking for customer service, there are lots of companies to look into , just look in the telecommute folder. I know of only one data entry company for sure, as I almost applied for a position (the application is still sitting on my desktop) - Dion Data Entry.

You should never have to pay for a JOB, but to start a home based business or ANY business, for that matter, is going to cost you some sort of investment and there are several companies listed in this forum that do require a small start up cost, but some of them offer residual income, which is repeat income - work once, get paid several times over - my particular situation, build your base once, and watch it grow rather than rebuilding it again and again.

I pay $50 a month to own my home based business but I also get household Dental-Vision-Prescription-Chiropractic and a whole heck of a lot more. My business is also willable and sellable upon hitting the first pin level with the company. I'm able to work around my 5 month old son (and I won't get in trouble or fired if he starts screaming while I'm on the phone), help people save money on their health care and I also train serious and dedicated individuals to work from home - I work about 3 hours a day, sometimes less, sometimes more. It's your choice

If you come across a job that you are not sure about, you can try looking the company up on the BBB or go to Ripoffreport.com to see if you find any dirt. Many members here can spot a scam a mile a way, so don't be afraid to ask! Good luck!

There are new jobs posted here almost everyday and Ratracerebellion.com is another good site for job leads.

The big flags to watch for are people asking you to verify your indentity with a credit card, asking you to buy a 'start up kit', etc.

If you see something you're unsure of , just ask other's opinion, mostly likely someone here will know if it's a big scam.

I have a link in my signature you might want to check out, I listed some sites I have used and earned money with before.

Good Luck!

Cool

Also be sure to check out the transcription folder because there are many "data entry" type jobs there. Depending on what you want to do there is so much available on this site. And as I have said in earlier posts dont hesitate to check out the other member's signature lines with work at home blogs and sites. (not mine because I dont have a wahm board of my own).

Hopefully that helps
Brandy

You've gotten great advice so far. CSR's are usually the more dependable steady hours, I started out w/Alpine Access, then moved on to Educate Online (not currently hiring), and now I do a combo of Leapforce, Demand Studios, Onpoint (once again not hiring), and a local company. Remember just because a company isn't hiring today dosen't mean you shouldn't check back with them.

Read through the threads, see what interests you, and pm me if I can help. You're in the right place to find a great WAH job. Best of luck 2 u

You should also check out Alpine Access and ACD Direct. Both of these are legitimate companies hiring home-based workers. I've heard good things about both.

I've been a general transcriptionist for the past 4 years or so, and I love it. I trained to be a medical transcriptionist, but found it easier to get started in general without experience. Oddly, I'm doing a lot of medical transcription now for the general transcription company I work for.

If you're interested in general, check out the transcription folder below. The stickies at the top list companies that hire newbies. You will generally have to pass a test though.

You are in the right place to look! Have you thought about taking customer service calls. You can do this with companies like West at Home and Live Ops. Check out those folders.
